NFL Doubles Super Bowl LIX Live Hispanic Coverage: Fox Deportes, NBCU Telemundo

By Barry Janoff
October 14, 2024: Super Bowl LIX this coming February will air exclusively on Fox, but the Spanish-language version will get two-times the live airplay on Fox Deportes as well as NBCUniversal’s Telemundo.
Fox Deportes and Telemundo today unveiled an alliance to air Super Bowl LIX live on Feb. 9, 2025 from The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in Spanish on both networks.
They said the move would “provide the broadest Spanish-language distribution in the United States for any Super Bowl in history.”
The Spanish-language networks said they would produce separate broadcasts for Super Bowl LIX.
Programming and coverage details will be shared during the lead-up to the game.
“Delivering live NFL games in Spanish is key to reaching the large and rapidly growing Spanish-speaking NFL fan base,” Hans Schroeder, NFL evp-media distribution, said via the league.
“We are constantly looking for ways to expand access to our games and reach more fans, and this partnership is another step forward. We are excited for the experience that Fox Deportes and Telemundo will create for Super Bowl LIX.”
According to Variety, Telemundo via the alliance will be able to sell ads with higher prices to local and regional marketers.
Fox will retain control of all national commercial inventory in the game.
That means Telemundo will broadcast the same roster of Super Bowl commercials as Fox — a move that gives Fox the chance to lure even broader audiences to the event and win more dollars from sponsors.
Although the union is a first regarding the Super Bowl, it is not a first for either network.
Fox Deportes made history in 2015 as the first network to air the Super Bowl in Spanish in the U.S. Fox Deportes also currently holds the two most-watched Super Bowls in Spanish-language cable history. The Super Bowl in New Orleans will mark the network’s fifth Super Bowl broadcast, the most of any Spanish-language network.
Telemundo in 2022 aired its first Spanish-language broadcast with Super Bowl LVI, which also set a record at the time for the most-watched NFL game in Spanish-language history.
This past 2023 season, Telemundo’s NFL coverage had its all-time highest viewership year.
“Since airing the first Super Bowl in U.S. Spanish-language history, Fox Deportes has been at the forefront of Spanish-language NFL coverage,” Carlos Sanchez, evp/GM, said via the network.
“Both companies have played a pivotal role in the rapid growth of the league’s Hispanic fan base and we are proud to collaborate with Telemundo to bring the Super Bowl to more Spanish-language viewers than ever before in a landmark moment for the league and its Spanish-language fans.”
Telemundo Deportes produces and distributes exclusive Spanish-language coverage of NBC’s Sunday Night Football games airing across Telemundo, Universo TeleXitos and Peacock, including 22 regular-season games and two playoff games each season, as well as NBC’s Super Bowls, including Super Bowl LX in February 2026.
Fox Deportes this season is scheduled to air four Spanish-language NFL regular season marquee games, including New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
The network’s playoff coverage includes one NFC Wild Card Game, one NFC Divisional Game and the NFC Championship Game leading to Super Bowl LIX.
