Fill In The Blank: USSF, Home Depot Construct Alliance Across Soccer Platforms

By Barry Janoff

January 28, 2025: The Home Depot continues to build its support of soccer, signing what was called an “expansive partnership” with the U.S. Soccer Federation.

The deal makes the home improvement retailer a strategic partner of the 27 U.S. Soccer National Teams, including the U.S. Men's and Women's senior National Teams, as well as the Federation's Youth and Extended National Teams.

The Home Depot will also be a Supporting Level partner of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center, U.S. Soccer's new home in Atlanta, which was named for the company's co-founder (conceptual image below).

Financial terms were not shared.

The partnership complements The Home Depot's recent deal with FIFA, which made it the official home improvement retailer in North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking place across Canada, Mexico and the U.S., including eight matches in the company’s home base in Atlanta.

USSF said The Home Depot becomes its 17th strategic partner and its tenth new partner since bringing its commercial rights in-house in 2023.

"The Home Depot's deep roots in the Atlanta community and strong ties to sports, and soccer in general, make it a perfect strategic partner for our Federation," David Wright, USSF chief commercial officer, said via the organization.

“Its support is crucial toward building our National Training Center and helping us unite communities across the country through the beautiful game, and we look forward to what we can achieve together in service to soccer."

The Home Depot said it operates 2,345 stores across Canada, Mexico and the U.S. with a workforce of more than 465,000 associates.

"The Home Depot is thrilled to deepen our commitment to soccer through this partnership with the U.S. Soccer Federation," Molly Battin, The Home Depot svp and CMO, said via the company.

"Our customers are passionate about sports, including soccer, and we're proud to support the game they love. This partnership allows us to help build the foundation for the future of soccer in the U.S."

The Home Depot said it would also bring the World Cup experience to its associates and customers with opportunities to participate in FIFA World Cup efforts leading up to and during the 2026 edition.

"We are thrilled to host fans in our own backyard by becoming the official home improvement retail supporter to FIFA World Cup 26," Battin said at the time via The Home Depot.

"We know our customers love sports and we love connecting with them through their passions. We can't wait to help build the FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. — the communities where we live and work."

In September 2023, USSF said it would receive $50 million from Arthur Blank, who in addition to co-founder of The Home Depot is majority owner of the NFL Atlanta Falcons and MLS Atlanta United, for construction of the U.S. Soccer National Training Center.

“America’s top athletes deserve the best when it comes to preparing them for competition on the global stage and I’m thrilled U.S. Soccer has chosen metro Atlanta as its new home,” said Blank at the time via USSF.

“Atlanta’s incredible passion for soccer, corporate community and unmatched infrastructure make this a natural home for the National Training Center and I’m very confident our community will help America’s finest soccer players compete on a global level like never before.
