Simply Marvelous: NBA G League Marvel Mash-Up For Super Hero Day Activation

September 26, 2022: The NBA G League and Marvel Entertainment today unveiled an alliance that includes 16 G League teams hosting a Marvel Super Hero Day during the upcoming 2022-23 NBA G League season.
Marvel Entertainment, LLC, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co.
The 2022-23 NBA G League season is scheduled to begin Nov. 4.
Marvel Super Hero Days across the league will feature Marvel-themed jerseys and custom comic books for promotional giveaway.
Select games will also include Marvel character appearances, limited-edition merchandise such as jerseys, socks, towels, and additional fan engagement activities.
Each team will receive a limited-edition collection of 3,000 custom comic books to give away to fans in attendance, which will feature the Black Panther and G League players as Agents of Wakanda.
Additional details surrounding team activations and their respective dates will be shared by the G League teams on an ongoing basis.
The league will promote and amplify activation via its social media platforms.
This past season, Marvel and MiLB began a three-year effort, “Defenders of the Diamond," bringing Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Fantastic Four and others to MiLB stadiums nationwide.
The strategy is scheduled to continue in MiLB ballparks during the 2023 and 2024 baseball seasons, with 96 of MiLB’s 120 teams currently participating.
“MiLB’s new partnership with Marvel Entertainment brings together two storied brands who create memories that are passed down from generation to generation,” Kurt Hunzeker, MLB vp-Minor League business operations, said at the time via the league.
"The possibilities with this partnership are endless and we look forward to some incredibly creative content, merchandise and promotions.”
