‘Atlanta Deserves An All-Star Game’: Braves Swing 2025 MLB Mid-Season Event

Photo: Atlanta BravesNovember 16, 2023: MLB said today that the 2025 All-Star Game would be played in Truist Park, home to the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta will also host related All-Star Game events that July, including the Home Run Derby, and community events throughout the region.

The game will air on Fox. A logo and specific dates are still to come.

This will be the first MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta since 2000. Atlanta’s first MLB All-Star Game was in 1972 in Atlanta Stadium.

Atlanta was scheduled to host the 2021 All-Star Game, but MLB moved it in April 2021 to Denver’s Coors Field following protests of the Georgia State Legislature's passage of the Election Integrity Act of 2021, which directly impacted voting laws, in particular regarding minorities.

“I have always said we want to bring the All-Star Game back to Atlanta,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said today during a media conference. “I made the decision in 2021 to move the event and I understand, believe me, that people had then and probably still have different views as to the merits of that decision.

“What’s most important is that the Atlanta Braves are a great organization. Truist Park and The Battery (are) gems in terms of the facilitates, and Atlanta and Georgia have been great markets for us for a very long time. Atlanta deserves an All-Star Game.”

The 2024 All-Star Game will take place in Globe Life Field in Arlington, home to the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers.

The 2026 event will be in Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, home for the Phillies, to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“We are thrilled that Major League Baseball has awarded the Atlanta Braves the 2025 All-Star Game,” Terry McGuirk, Braves’ chairman, said via the team.

“Time and time again, Atlanta has proven to be a world-class destination for the most exciting entertainment and sporting events. I am excited that baseball fans will have the opportunity to experience Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta along with all this area has to offer.

“Over the coming months, we look forward to working alongside MLB to create memorable experiences that will showcase and support our community.”

“I commend Terry McGuirk, Derek Schiller, the entire Braves organization and the Atlanta Sports Council for leading this effort,” said Manfred. “As a model of success on and off the field, the Braves deserve to host the All-Star Game. Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta will provide fans a world-class experience in 2025.

“We look forward to working with the Braves and local leaders to deliver a memorable All-Star Week that brings people together and benefits the community in many ways.”
