Kickoff Coordination: College Football Unveils Details For First Expanded Playoffs

June 5, 2024: The College Football Playoff today unveiled dates, kickoff times and broadcast information for the 2024-25 playoff, the first year of the expanded 12-team format.
ESPN, which this past March expanded its exclusive alliance with CFP thru the 2031-32 season, will air nine the 11 games, with two on both ESPN and ABC.
Turner Sports will air the other two games via s sub-licensing deal signed with ESPN in May.
The first CFP First Round game will air Friday, Dec. 20 on ABC and ESPN.
On Saturday, Dec. 21, TNT Sports will air two games, followed by a third game on ABC and ESPN.
The four First Round games will be played on campuses to be named on Selection Day, Dec. 8.
ESPN will then air each of the four Playoff Quarterfinals: the Verbo Fiesta Bowl (Dec. 31) and three games on Jan. 1, 2025 — the Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl presented by Prudential and the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
ESPN will air the two Playoff Semifinals: Capital One Orange Bowl (Jan. 9) and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl (Jan. 10).
The 2025 CFP National Championship scheduled for Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, on ESPN.
Starting in 2026-27, the College Football Playoff National Championship will air on ABC in addition to ESPN's multi-cast presentation.
The new, six-year agreement — which allows ESPN to sub-license games — also provides expanded sales and sponsorship opportunities for Disney Advertising as the exclusive seller of the College Football Playoff Official Partner Program.
The agreement with the CFP marks ESPN's second major college sports media rights extension in 2024, following the eight-year deal with the NCAA unveiled in January, which encompasses exclusive rights to 40 NCAA Championship events
