Melo, Howard, Bird, Moore, 'Redeem Team' Named To Hoops Hall Of Fame Class Of ’25

Collage: USABApril 5, 2025: In what certainly will be the most celebrated induction ceremonies in its history, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has unveiled the Class of ’25, including NBA All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard and WNBA icons Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore.

Also leading the Class of '5 is the 2008 U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team  — aka the Redeem Team — which won gold at the Beijing Games and featured Anthony, Howard, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant, Michael Redd, Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams and Tayshaun Prince. Anthony, Howard, Bird, Moore, Fowles, Donovan and Crawford were all selected their first time on the ballot.

“USA Basketball is thrilled to see the 2008 U.S. Men’s Olympic Team elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame,” USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley said via the organization. “The Redeem Team’s celebrated run in Beijing marks a pivotal moment in U.S. men’s Olympic basketball history and has propelled us to five straight gold medals.”

“Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard, members of that team and individual inductees, are two of the many legends in this Class who have contributed to our organization’s success over the last 20-plus years, including Sue Bird, Billy Donovan, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles.

“Congratulations to the Class of 2025 and we look forward to celebrating you in Springfield."

The Class of 2025 was named as part of events at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio.

Enshrinement weekend is scheduled to begin in Mohegan Sun in Connecticut on Sept. 5, with the tipoff celebration and awards gala, including the 2025 class jacket and ring presentation and the annual Hall of Fame Awards.

The enshrinement ceremony will be Sept. 6 in Springfield, Mass., at the Hall of Fame.

“Sue Bird, a 4x WNBA champ and 5x Olympic gold medalist, is the WNBA’s all-time leader in assists. Sylvia Fowles, a 2x WNBA champ and 4x Olympic gold medalist, is No. 2 on the WNBA’s all-time rebounding list. And Maya Moore, a 4x WNBA champion and 2x Olympic gold medalist, is one of the game’s most influential players.

“These three legends will be officially inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 6th!

The Curt Gowdy Insight Award went to Adrian Wojnarowoski, the Curt Gowdy Print Media Award to Michelle Smith.
