NFL Kickoff Game Gets Heavy: Ozzy Osbourne To Play Bills-Rams Halftime Show

September 3, 2022: Music icon Ozzy Osbourne is scheduled to perform during NFL Kickoff Halftime on Thursday, Sept. 8, during the season-opening game between the Buffalo Bills and defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in SoFi Stadium.
Osbourne, 73, is promoting his new album, Patient Number 9, scheduled to drop Sept. 9.
Osbourne and the Rams posted to social media that he’ll perform several songs, a portion of which will be televised on NBC as part of its special Sunday Night Football broadcast (8 PM ET).
Osbourne and his wife Sharon are actually in the process of moving from Los Angeles back to the U.K. after 20 years in the U.S., citing America's growing issues with gun violence.
He recently contracted COVID-19 and also had neck and back surgery.
Patient Number 9 will be Osbourne's 13th solo studio album following a long career as the frontman for Black Sabbath.
The album itself contains an all-star roster, including Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, the late Taylor Hawkins, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Chirs Chaney (Jane’s Addiction); and longtime Ozzy bandmates Tony Iommi, Zak Wylde and Robert Trujillo.
Osbourne is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (Class of 2006 as a member of Black Sabbath) and Grammy-winning singer and songwriter.
The Osbournes relocation to the U.K. will be the focus of a reality show, Home To Roost, scheduled for 2023.
Ozzy won't be the
only highlight that night.
Kevin Demoff, COO for the Rams, has unveiled a plethora of other activation scheduled for NFL Kickoff in SoFi Stadium.
“A year after welcoming you all to SoFi Stadium for the first time, we will be back at the Rams House, but this time as World Champions,” he wrote in a letter to Rams season ticket holders, posted to the team’s Web site.
“Rams owner/chairman Stan Kroenke and 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Andrew Whitworth will lead the pre-game celebration on-field, which will include highlights from last year and an Augmented Reality experience on the Infinity Screen.
“We will reveal a Super Bowl Champions banner from SoFi Stadium's iconic canopy roof (and) all fans in attendance will receive their own commemorative banner inspired by our Super Bowl Champions banner.”
