Joel EmbiidUPDATED March 25, 2024: AT&T brings a bevy of current and former NBA and WNBA stars who played in college— as well as current collegiate standouts — together for its March Madness campaign, “Connect to the Madness,” to show that it has the personalized plan to fit your needs.
AT&T — which has been a NCAA corporate champion since 2001 — has enlisted the likes of Draymond Green (Michigan State), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Kentucky), Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga), Jalen Brunson (Villanova), Carmelo Anthony (Syracuse), Kendrick Perkins, TJ Ford (Texas), Joel Embiid (Kansas) and WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu (Connecticut)— as well as college standout JuJu Watkins — for its humorous effort.
It will run across the men’s tournament on CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV and the women’s tournament on ESPN, as well as digital and social media.
Green of the Golden State Warriors uses his spot, “Draymond Green’s Choice,” as a therapy session for his life in the NBA, which this season included a suspension for five games after putting a chokehold on Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert and another 12 games after an altercation with Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Turkic, as well as other suspensions in previous seasons.
“AT&T gave me their best deal and my choice of plan,” an employee in a fast-food location who is using an AT&T-supported phone says to Green.
“Choices are amazing, aren't they,” he replies. “One minute you're making all the right ones and everyone loves you. Then you make a bad one. Then a good one. Then a regrettable choice. Then another questionable choice. Soon you're left with just one choice. And that's to grow.”
(Editor's Note: Green got into other scuffles, this time with Memphis Grizzlies Santi Aldama and later with Desmond Bane during the Warriors home game on March 20.)
Text offers, "Get your choice of plans guaranteed.”
In "Joel’s Choice," Embiid likes choices. So when he learns that AT&T gives you their best deal on any smartphone with your choice of plan, guaranteed, his barber and USC star JuJu Watkins hook him up with some bold choices for a new look.
In “What A Pro Wants,” Oklahoma City Thunder stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren get to show off their singing skills in a parody of Christina Aguilera’s “What A Girl Wants," to explain how AT&T provides proactive recommendations so you get what’s right for you.
JuJu Watkins“Jalen’s Jacket” finds New York Knicks Jalen Brunson following March Madness at home and on the go by wearing a connected jacket that ultimately makes him go viral, so much so that JuJu Watkins, current USC Trojans star, and WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu see it online. “With AT&T, you can Connect to the Madness your way.”
In “Boxy Boys,” after getting some proactive advice from AT&T, Carmelo Anthony says, “I’m all about good advice.”
Kendrick Perkins and TJ Ford remind him that he gives “horrible advice,” and travel back in time to revisit Carmelo’s bad fashion choice for the 2003 draft.
AT&T also has plenty of presence across the March Madness landscape.
