‘Inspire And Connect’: NBA Names Marketing Vet Tammy Henault New CMO

Tammy HenaultUPDATED November 10, 2022: Kate Jhaveri, who was the NBA’s CMO from August 2019 until September 2022, has been named TikTok’s global head of marketing, a position that had been vacant since Nick Tran left in January.
Tik Tok said Jhaveri would oversee its consumer and brand marketing and lead its marketing to content creators.
October 27, 2022: With a goal to “forge meaningful connections with fans around the world,” the NBA today named Tammy Henault as its new CMO.
Henault, currently svp-consumer marketing, streaming at Paramount+, will officially join the league on Nov. 21.
“Tammy is an award-winning marketing and media executive with terrific experience and a proven track record in audience acquisition, retention and engagement,” Mark Tatum, NBA deputy commissioner and COO, said via the league.
“As the NBA continues to prioritize our direct-to-consumer offerings, we are excited for Tammy to join our team and help us forge meaningful connections with NBA fans around the world.”
Henault replaces Kate Jhaveri, who departed last month. Jhaver joined the NBA in 2019 and was with the league though its COVID-19 bubble season and the 75th Anniversary campaign.
The NBA said Henault would lead all global marketing efforts for the NBA and its affiliate leagues to “engage fans and further the organization’s mission to inspire and connect people everywhere through the power of basketball.”
In addition, she will play a leading role in “driving the launch of the NBA’s Next Gen platform, working hand-in-hand with the product and content teams on the reimagined NBA App and NBA ID, the league’s new global membership program offering fans benefits and rewards.”
In her eight years at Paramount Global, Henault managed a team responsible for brand, partnership and performance marketing, audience development, customer acquisition and retention.
She also led award-winning campaigns for more than 100 original and exclusive shows and movies,
Prior to Paramount, Henault was managing director-consumer marketing for digital products at The New York Times.
