NFLPA Report Cards: Miami, Minnesota On Top; Browns, Pats, Cards Bottom Out

February 26, 2025: The Philadelphia Eagles are defending Super Bowl champions, and the Kansas City Chiefs won the previous two Super Bowls, but neither team has a Super Bowl aura in the just-released "2025 Team Report Cards" from the NFL Players Assn.
The Eagles ranked No. 22, the Chiefs 26 among the NFL’s 32 teams in the third annual survey.
“For years, players have wanted a resource that reflects their daily experiences and opinions about their workplace conditions,” JC Tretter, NFLPA chief strategy officer, posted to their Web site.
“With that in mind, we launched the NFLPA Team Report Cards, a tool that has grown into a valuable resource for players.”
However, it would not take much for either the Eagles or Chiefs to move up in the next report card.
“There are many seemingly low-cost improvements the (Eagles) could make that would quickly improve the players’ experience,” according to the NFLPA.
“Players identify three easy fixes: providing childcare on game days (like most NFL teams do), prioritizing first-class seating for players instead of coaches, and staggering lunch times to avoid overcrowding in the cafeteria.
“When asked what the team currently does best, players shared that team leadership listens to their feedback and prioritizes improvements."
For the Chiefs, “(They) have made significant strides in multiple areas,” according to the NFLPA. “They improved their family offerings by introducing stadium daycare for day games, resulting in a notable boost in their grade.
“Players continue to express the need for renovation and upgrades to the locker room, which has been their top request complaint in prior surveys. Players also want a new home game hotel since the one the team currently uses ranks the lowest in the league.”
Concurrently, the Miami Dolphins retained their position in the 2025 Team Report Cards as the NFL’s top-ranked team. Stephen Ross was again the highest-graded owner, and the team is ranked No. 1 in seven of the 11 evaluated categories.
The Minnesota Vikings maintained their No. 2 ranking, “continuing to have top-of-the-line facilities, a highly regarded coach and owner, and a helpful support staff,” according to the NFLPA.
“Despite already receiving high grades, they made additional improvements since the prior survey —most notably in the training staff.”
The Top Five also includes the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.
The NFLPA said a total of 1,695 players participated in this year's survey, which is 77% of the NFLPA’s membership.
“One of our core jobs as a union is to improve the overall working conditions for our players, which includes the daily experience of players at the team facilities away from the lights and cameras,” wrote Tretter.
“1,695 of our players provided information to share with one another about their current club, to not only help them make important career decisions, but also help raise standards across the league.”
Categories in the 2025 Team Report Cards included Treatment of Families, Food/Dining Area. Nutritionist/Dietician, Locker Room, Training Room, Training Staff, Weight Room, Strength Coaches, Team Travel, Head Coach and Ownership.
“We saw overall improvement across all 32 teams,” wrote Tretter.
The Falcons, who were 25th last year, moved to third after opening a new team training facility. The Chargers, which also opened a new team training facility, moved up from 30th in 2024.
The Commanders jumped from 32nd to 11th under owner Josh Harris, who received high scores from his players. Coach Dan Quinn rated as the top head coach ahead of Falcons coach Raheem Morris.
The Dallas Cowboys finished No. 10. “excelling in several areas,” according to the NFLPA. “Their facilities, including the locker room and weight room, are top-tier, and they consistently rank among the best in how the organization treats players’ families.”
Ironically, when the players were asked what the team is currently doing best, “the most consistent answer was the leadership of head coach Mike McCarthy and the culture he fostered.”
McCarthy was fired as head coach after the season.
“We hope these insights continue to inspire teams to take action, even on small changes that can significantly impact their players’ lives."
The Detroit Lions were No. 9 overall. Head coach Dan Campbell received an A+, the team’s highest graded area, for the second year in a row.
“When asked what the team does best, the players’ resounding answers were culture and leadership, reflecting the great work that Campbell does as head coach,” according to the NFLPA
The lowest-rated teams were No. 29 New York Jets, No. 30 Cleveland Browns, No. 3 New England Patriots and No. 32 Arizona Cardinals.
For the Jets, which dropped from No. 21 last year, “Rather than addressing concerns, players believed that management responded to feedback by making conditions worse.
"For example, after receiving low grades for their food program last year, players felt the team cut the food budget and did not retain their long-time dietitian, who was previously their highest-rated staff member.”
In Arizona, “The top concern for many players is the need for an updated, modernized and expanded team facility. Nearly every space within the facility is described as too small, especially the team’s locker room.”
However, when asked what the team is doing best, ”Many players praise head coach Jonathan Gannon for fostering a strong team culture.”
According to Tretter, “We hope these insights continue to inspire teams to take action, even on small changes that can significantly impact their players’ lives. Together, we’re striving to raising the bar for our union members.”
The NFLPA said the survey was conducted by a third party, Artemis Strategy Group, Aug. 26-Nov. 20, 2024.
The census survey was conducted online and provided access to every player who was on a 2024 NFL roster at the time of the survey, according to the NFLPA.
