Bounty Hunters Offer $100K+ For Topps James, Curry, Durant Autographed Card

August 16, 2024: LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant helped the USA Men’s Basketball Team win gold at the Paris Olympics.
Now, they are part of a gold rush, with the three NBA stars all featured on a Topps Now 1-of-1 Triple Autograph Card featuring James, Curry and Durant in their Team USA uniforms.
According to Ken Goldin, founder and CEO of Goldin Auctions, the 1-of-1 card is “worth easily over six figures.”
He has backed that up by putting “a $150,000 bounty” cash advance to the person who has the card, if consigned thru Goldin Auction.
Geoff Wilson, founder of Sports Card Investor, has offered $100,000 in addition to several unique perks.
They include two first-class tickets to fly to Wilson’s CardsHQ card store in Atlanta; opening any box of their choosing in the store; and premium tickets to a Braves, Hawks or Falcons game.
Topps said it sent the 1-of-1 card randomly to someone who earlier this week purchased a non-autographed Topps Now base card for $11.99.
Topps said there was a base card print run of 588,035, the most ever for a Topps NOW card, which was mad available Aug. 10-13.
That card is now out-of-print.
Topps said it “paired a redemption card for the triple-auto at random for a lucky customer.”
“Someone who buys a Topps Now base card from today’s Team USA Gold Medal game will receive this 1/1 Steph, LeBron, KD triple auto,” Topps posted to its Web site when the base card was made available after the U.S. Men's 98-87 gold medal game win over France.
“This truly historic card will find a new home soon . . . will you be buying any of the Topps Now base cards to have a chance at this piece of history?”
According to Topps, this card is the first LeBron James Topps autographed card, the first with James and Curry’s autograph on the same card and the first featuring James, Curry and Duran autographs all on the same card.
Earlier this year, James signed a multi-year trading card partnership with Fanatics Collectibles. In January 2022, Fanatics acquired Topps for $500 million.
“This card pays tribute to the incredible moment that we saw during the Olympics where three of the greatest active basketball players combined to take home the gold medal," Clay Luraschi, svp- product at Topps, told ESPN.
"This particular card is special because you have your regular version and then you have an autograph version. There's been many different autograph cards throughout basketball trading card history, but this is the first time these three players have signed the same card. So, it makes it very unique."
James has a previous history involving his autographed and 1-of-1 cards.
This past January, James and son Bronny both signed a 1-of-1 Topps card included in the 2023-24 Bowman University Chrome Basketball set, It pictured LeBron James in his St. Vincent-St. Mary's high school uniform and Bronny James in his USC Trojans jersey.
It sold for $114,000 via PWCC Premier (which this past July rebranded as Fanatics Collect).
In June 2022. a LeBron James non-autographed "Triple Logoman" card from the 2020-21 Panini basketball card set featuring game-used jersey patches from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers sold at auction for $2.4 million via Goldin.
In April 2021, a LeBron James autographed Upper Deck rookie card 2003-04 Exquisite Rookie Patch (numbered 7-of-23) was sold in a private sale brokered by PWCC for $5.2 million
In April 2020, a different LeBron James autographed Upper Deck rookie card 2003-04 Exquisite Rookie Patch (numbered 14-of-23) sold at auction for $1.72 million via Goldin.
