College Football Is Back; So Is Dr Pepper’s Fansville Campaign, ‘Sheriff’ Bosworth

By Barry Janoff

August 19, 2024; Stating that "College football — it’s a Pepper thing,” Dr Pepper has launched Season 7 of "Fansville," the humorous episodic drama set in a fictional college town, to coincide with the start of the 2024 CFB season.

The multi-media campaign also celebrates Dr Pepper's 10th anniversary of becoming an “official sponsor of the College Football Playoffs.”

“Dr Pepper is ingrained in college football, woven into the culture and fandom surrounding the sport," Andrew Springate, Keurig Dr Pepper CMO, said via the company. "It's been a tremendous year for our brand as we continue to break barriers and hit new milestones of growth within our category.

“As we mark Dr Pepper's 10th anniversary of becoming the official sponsor of the College Football Playoffs, we welcome the new changes energizing the game, as it provides us with even greater opportunities to engage with both new and long-term fans, celebrating new beginnings while embracing the traditions of fandom together."

Fansville Season 7 includes seven new episodes that “draw from major shifts in college football, including the 12-team playoff expansion, the new two-minute warning rule and the conference realignments.”

New this season is a NIL partnership with Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, the “Deputy” to “The Sheriff" Brian Bosworth, a Fansville mainstay.

The 2024 Dr Pepper Fansville campaign spots will air throughout the CFBl season on ESPN, CBS, and Fox; across digital, radio, OOH advertising and Dr Pepper social media platforms.

The first two spots break this week: "Into the Great Unknown" and "Hype Train.”

A third spot, “Call for Backup,” breaks Aug. 26.

"Into the Great Unknown" focuses on the “excitement and changes of the season and begins at alliance with Ewers.”

A voiceover offers, “The new era of college football has arrived. And it’s getting stranger than ever. The landscape is shifting, The cast is growing (Quinn Ewers). Fans are going off-the-rails. College football — it’s a Pepper thing."

Hype Train” examines the media buzz around overhyped teams. “The Hype Train rolls into Fansville and it's taking State fans on a thrilling ride fueled by way-too-soon championship aspirations . . . .until the starting QB gets injured in practice.”

Fansville Season 7 also unveils the first piece from Dr Pepper's college football collection with fashion designer Nigel Xavierd.

The exclusive Dr Pepper x Nigel Xavier jacket, featured in the "Hype Train" episode on the character Logan, is the first of several pieces to become available throughout the 2024-25 season.
