College Football Playoff Committee Eyes Championship Cities: Atlanta '25, Miami '26

August 15, 2022: The College Football Playoff executive committee said today the 2026 National Championship would be played in Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla., to conclude the 2025 season.
Miami also hosted the 2021 CFP National Championship.
The location of the 2026 national championship game to conclude the 2025 season “was also confirmed, and an announcement on that site will be made in the near future,” according to CFP.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta was reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as the site for the 2025 National Championship, to be played in January 2026.
It has not yet been confirmed by the CFP committee, but that could come as early as tomorrow (Aug. 16).
Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta last hosted the title game in 2018.
The 2023 National Championship is scheduled for Jan. 9 in SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, Calif.; and the 2024 National Championship in Houston’s NRG Stadium on Jan. 8.
"South Florida was a great host for the 2021 national championship game despite the event having to be scaled back because of COVID-19," Bill Hancock, CFP executive director, said via the committee, "and we look forward to returning in 2026 with a full complement of events and activities during national championship weekend. 
“The first-class stadium, convention center, hotels and supportive people in South Florida made the decision to return quite easy.”
In 2026, Hard Rock Stadium, home to the NFL's Miami Dolphins, will also host matches as part of the FIFA Men’s World Cup.
According to Hancock, “The CFP National Championship has become one of the most popular sporting events in the United States in a short period of time, and we look forward to a terrific celebration in Miami in 2026."
