Australian Open Grand Slam: Play It Forward On ESPN, Tennis Channel

January 11, 2025: The ATP Tour has launched its 2025 global campaign, “It All Adds Up,” the Holgoic WTA Tour said it plans to “deliver another thrilling season of tennis in 2025 with more tournaments, new and expanded events and groundbreaking off-court initiatives,” and it all begins to materialize at the Australian Open, the first tennis Grand Slam of the year.
Players will compete for $60 million in prize money at the Australian Open — an increase of more than 11.5% vs. 2024. Singles champions will take home $2.18 million, up 11%.
Defending champions are Novak Djokovic, who has won a record ten men’s singles at the Grand Slam, and Aryna Sabalenka.
ESPN brings to North America every match from every round of the 2025 Australian Open, live from Melbourne Park.
This is ESPN’s 41st annual presentation of this Australian Open, representing its longest uninterrupted professional sports programming relationship. ESPN has held the rights to the event since 1984.
Tennis Channel’s 18th year at the Australian Open — it has covered the Australian Open since 2008 — is anchored by Tennis Channel Live at the Australian Open.
The show will air nightly throughout the two-week tournament.
Coverage across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ will include all matches from all 15 courts, with every match streaming live on ESPN+.
It is supported by a multi-media campaign, "The Australian Open: Hits Different", which features live and animated versions of players including Coco Gauff, Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Francis Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz.
The ESPN commentator Team for the 2025 Australian Open includes John McEnroe, Chris McKendry, Brad Gilbert, Patrick McEnroe, Jason Goodall, Coco Vandeweghe, Chris Eubanks, James Blake, Kris Budden, Mike Monaco, Darren Cahill, Chris Fowler, Mary Joe Fernández and Rennae Stubbs. 
With Melbourne 16 hours ahead of the U.S. ET, day session matches will air on ESPN linear networks in prime time ET and night session matches will begin at 3 AM ET with coverage presented by Chase Sapphire.
In all, ESPN will present more than 250 hours of live coverage on its linear networks.
Daily encore presentations will be available on ESPN2, with Quarterfinal encore presentations expanded to four hours per day.
Comprehensive coverage will culminate with the Women’s and Men’s Championships on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26, respectively, at 3:30 a.m. ET on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+.
New this year are two 30-minute pre-shows before each singles championship.
ABC will air two one-hour highlight shows on the middle and final weekends.
As it has done before, Tennis Channel Live at the Australian Open will provide highlights, analysis, interviews and news from the Melbourne competition.
Prior to each afternoon’s program, Tennis Channel will feature encore replays throughout the day from the first day of play through the last championship point
The Tennis Channel Live at the Australian Open on-air team includes Hall of Famers Martina Navratilova, Jim Courier and Lindsay Davenport.
TennisChannel.com and Tennis.com will carry Australian Open news, highlights, scores, interviews and live blogs throughout the event.
The network’s social media platforms will also follow the activity in Melbourne during the next two weeks.

ESPN.com will offer comprehensive tournament coverage, including previews, reviews, analysis, news, polls and videos. 
ESPN Radio will provide SiriusXM listeners access to Australian Open Radio broadcasts, including daily live coverage of matches from the First Round through the quarterfinals, and will air all men’s and women’s matches in their entirety in the Semifinal and Championship rounds.
ESPN Deportes coverage in Spanish spans the First Round through the Championships, with a 30-minute pre-show preceding the Women’s and Men’s Championships. ESPNDeportes.com will feature news, results, recaps, and live chats.
ESPN on Disney+ brings the Australian Open to its subscribers, following the recent launch of ESPN on the platform. All Disney+ subscribers can access action of the tournament directly within the app.
The entire tournament also streams on via Disney+ for all Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle subscribers.
