FIFA $1B Deal Names DAZN Exclusive Broadcast Partner For ’25 Club World Cup

December 4, 2024: Calling it a “major milestone in DAZN's journey to be the ultimate entertainment platform of choice for sports fans everywhere,” the media company today been confirmed as the exclusive global broadcaster for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
The agreement will see all 63 matches at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 —which features 32 of the best clubs worldwide — live-streamed, free to view on DAZN globally, in multiple languages.
It includes the “possibility of sub-licensing to local free-to-air linear broadcast networks.”
Participating clubs include Inter Miami CF (USA) and Lionel Messi.
Financial terms were not shared but were put at $1 billion by industry analysts.
"This groundbreaking deal with FIFA is a major milestone in DAZN's journey to be the ultimate entertainment platform of choice for sports fans everywhere,” DAZN CEO Shay Segev said via the company.
“We're delighted to have the exclusive rights to this new chapter in global club football, marking the start of our long-term relationship with FIFA and cementing our status as the home of football.”
The agreement marks the start of a broader partnership between DAZN and FIFA.
It includes integrating FIFA+, FIFA's library of football moments and full-match replays, as well as live fixtures, into the DAZN platform.
The FIFA Club World Cup 2025, scheduled to begin June 15, 2025 in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, will feature matches in 12 venues across the U.S. over a 29-day period.
It will culminate with the final, scheduled for July 13, 2025, in MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ, home to the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets.
The partnership begins with the Draw for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which DAZN will broadcast live from Miami Dec. 5.
"The new FIFA Club World Cup is a merit-based, inclusive tournament that will be the pinnacle of global club football, capturing the imagination of players and fans across the world,” Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, said via the organization.
“Through this broadcasting agreement, billions of football fans worldwide can now watch what will be the most widely accessible club football tournament ever — and for free. Football Unites the World."
Despite the accolades, the tournament has come with some controversy,
FIFA is currently facing legal action, "external from player unions and leagues about the scheduling of the tournament," according to BBC Sports.
“Global players’ union Fifpro and the top European Leagues say the international football calendar is ‘oversaturated’ to the extent that it ‘risks player safety and well-being.’”
A FIFA spokesperson told BBC Sports: “The FIFA Club World Cup is not responsible for calendar congestion. It is a competitive tournament that takes place once every four years and, as independent studies have verified, FIFA is only responsible for a small percentage of matches per season.
“FIFA cares about the welfare of the players. Following a decision taken earlier this year, FIFA is formalizing the Task Force on Player Welfare, headed by Arsène Wenger, to promote further global dialogue on player welfare issues with key stakeholders across football.”
Club World Cup partners include Hisense, a leading brand in global consumer electronics and home appliances; and Bank of America, which is also the official bank sponsor of the FIFA Men’s World Cup 26, to be hosted by the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Host cities include Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium), Charlotte, NC (Bank of America Stadium), Cincinnati (TQL Stadium), Los Angeles (Rose Bowl), Miami (Hard Rock Stadium), Nashville (Geodis Park), New York/New Jersey (MetLife Stadium), Orlando (Camping World Stadium and Inter & Co. Stadium), Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field), Seattle (Lumen Field) and Washington DC (Audi Field).
DAZN is available on all connected devices, including smart TVs, smart phones, tablets and game consoles.
