Usher Gets The Starting Role For Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show

Photo: Park MGMSeptember 24, 2023: The first Super Bowl to be played in Las Vegas now has a high-profile halftime star.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation said today that Usher would lead the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show from Allegiant Stadium, Feb. 11, airing on CBS (and streaming on Paramount+).

The eight-time Grammy Award winner — previously a guest at the Super Bowl XLV halftime show (2011) headlined by the Black Eyed Peas — won’t have to travel very far.

Usher, 44, is currently headlining "Usher: My Way" residency in Las Vegas in the Park MGM.

"It's an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list," Usher said via the NFL. "I can't wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they've seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I'll see you real soon."

Roc Nation and Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producers of the halftime show. Hamish Hamilton returns as director.

This will be the second collaboration between the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation.

Usher broke the news via social media this morning in a segment that also featured Kim Kardashian.

Usher is recording in a studio when gets a call from Kardashian, who tells him, “You’re playing the halftime show in Vegas.”

“How do you know?” he asks her.

“I know everything,” she says.

“Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape throughout his career, we couldn't be more excited to have him headline this year's Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show," Seth Dudowsky, NFL head of music, said via the league.

“We look forward to working with Usher, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another Halftime Show for the history books."

Super Bowl LVIII will also have a kids-centric presentation on Nickelodeon, marking the first time the Super Bowl will have an alternate telecast on another network.

Usher will follow in the presentation of Super Bowl LVII this past February, where the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show from State Farm Stadium featured Rihanna in what the NFL said was “the most-watched halftime performance of all time.

In 2022, the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show starred Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.

"Usher is the ultimate artist and showman,” Jay-Z said via Roc Nation. "Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he's been charting his own unique course.
