On April 8, 1974, in Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, Aaron passed Babe Ruth with his 715th homer to become MLB’s all-time leader at the time.
MLB will pay tribute to that legendary moment with a special presentation, airing live on Fox, in which Aaron’s homer will be recreated through the use of projection mapping and custom pyrotechnics in the ballpark.
It is scheduled for the end of the sixth inning or later, depending on lighting.
July 12, 2025: Matt Olson of the host Atlanta Braves named as a replacement for teammate Ronald Acuña Jr., in the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby.
July 11, 2025: The field is set for the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby, which will take place July 14 in Truist Park, Atlanta (ESPN 8 PM ET).

July 9, 2025: ESPN: The automated ball-strike system is coming to the All-Star Game in Atlanta. MLB officials added the feature to the annual exhibition game knowing it could be a precursor to becoming a permanent part of the major leagues as soon as next year.
The same process used this past spring training will be used for the Midsummer Classic: Each team will be given two challenges with the ability to retain them if successful. Only a pitcher, catcher or hitter can ask for a challenge and it has to happen almost immediately after the pitch. The player will tap his hat or helmet indicating to the umpire he wants to challenge while any help from the dugout or other players on the field is not allowed. (Full story here.)
July 8, 2025: The 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard will lead off with a pregame ceremony in Truist Park scheduled to feature performances from two of Atlanta’s hip-hop icons, Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris, as well as country music all-stars Zac Brown Band and Kane Brown and singer-songwriter Lauren Spencer Smith.
The celebration will "spotlight Atlanta’s rich musical legacy, with local artists delivering a powerful tribute to the city’s culture and contributions to music history, in addition to the traditional national anthem tributes."
July 6, 2025: Pitchers and reserves have been named to the American League and National League All-Star Teams for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard.
In addition to the starters elected by the fans, the pitchers and reserve players were named to the All-Star Game roster by the Player Ballot — a vote of the players, managers and coaches — and by Major League Baseball. In making its selections as the last step in the process, "MLB has ensured that each of the 30 Major League Clubs will be represented at the Midsummer Classic."
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, Jr. has also named Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw to the NL All-Star Team as a “Legend Pick” in recognition of his career.

July 3, 2025: MLB said the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby and All-Star Game presented by MasterCard in Atlanta would feature tributes to Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth.
The Home Running Derby is scheduled for July 14 (7-14) and the All-Star Game July 15 (7-15), In 1935, Babe Ruth hit his record-setting 714th home run with the then-Boston Braves. In 1974, Hank Aaron broke Ruth’s record with his 715th home run in Atlanta.
National Leaguers participating in the Home Run Derby will be wearing the No. 44 below their names on the backs of their jerseys, while American League players participating in the Derby will be wearing the No. 3 on the backs of their jerseys with their names to honor the feat first set by Ruth.
In addition, all players at Gatorade Workout Day on July 14 will be issued name and number performance T-shirts that replicate the jersey designs with No. 44 and No. 3 on the backs, with their own last names.
MLB said the idea to pay tribute to Aaron and Ruth came from former Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia when he recognized the meaning of the dates.
June 30, 2025: Phase 2 has started to pick the starting All-Stars on the 2025 Pro Spirit MLB All-Star Ballot at the 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard at Truist Park in Atlanta on July 15. Voting ends July 2.
June 26, 2025: New York Yankees OF Aaron Judge led MLB with 4,012,983 votes in Phase 1 of fan balloting and Los Angeles Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani led the National League and was second overall with 3,967,668 votes. Both are automatically part of the 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard in Truist Park in Atlanta on July 15.
The first phase of online voting began June 4 and ended today (June 26). MLB said almost 11 million ballots were cast.
MLB said the other players to top 2.5 million votes in Phase 1 were Dodgers catcher Will Smith (3,428,856), Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (3,392,751), Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (3,040,594), Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong (3,021,265), Guardians third baseman José Ramírez (2,777,085) and D-backs second baseman Ketel Marte (2,534,002).
Two finalists at every other position now advance to Phase 2, which runs from June 30 (Noon ET) to July 2 (Noon ET. Phase 1 votes do not carry over.
Remaining starters will be named July 2. Pitchers and reserves will be named July 6.

June 16, 2025: The New Yankees Aaron Judge and the Los Angeles Dodgers Shohei Ohtani are the leading vote-getters for the American League and National League, respectively, in first ballot voting released by MLB for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard.
Phase 1 of the voting concludes on June 26 at Noon (ET).
If they retain their leads, Judge and Ohtani will automatically receive starting spots in their league’s lineup for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard at Truist Park in Atlanta on July 15.
Judge leads all players with 1,568,527 votes. In the AL he is followed by Cal Raleigh, Seattle Mariners (1,043,168), José Ramírez, Cleveland Guardians (968,754), Riley Greene, Detroit Tigers (675,070) and Paul Goldschmidt, Yankees (667,258).
Ohtani, with 1,398,771 votes, is one of five NL players with more than one million votes, along with Dodgers teammates Freddie Freeman (1,136,389) and Will Smith (1,124,629), the Chicago Cubs Pete Crow-Armstrong (1,126,119) and the New York Mets Francisco Lindor (1,019,273

MLB named the honorary coaches and staffs who will be a part of the 2025 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard.
American League manager Aaron Boone of the reigning AL Champion New York Yankees has invited four-time World Series-winning manager and Hall of Famer Joe Torre to serve as an honorary coach along with Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt alongside the Yankees’ coaching staff in the AL dugout.
National League manager Dave Roberts of the defending World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers has asked 2021 World Series-winning manager Brian Snitker of the host Atlanta Braves and first-year manager Clayton McCullough of the Miami Marlins to serve as honorary coaches alongside the Dodgers’ coaching staff for the NL.
