Lindt Chocolate's First Global Campaign With Federer Nets Sweet Sweepstakes

July 19, 2010: Chocolate company Lindt is activating its first global campaign behind tennis star Roger Federer, anchored by a sweepstakes offering the top prize of a trip to New York to watch Federer in action and an ultimate prize of a trip to Zurich to take a tour of Lindt's headquarters with Federer.

Now through Sept. 12, 2010, consumers are being directed to www.Lindt.com to participate in "The Perfect Match" sweepstakes, a game that gives players the opportunity to win daily prizes, including Lindt Chocolate gift cards valued from $25-$100 value and Nike duffle bags autographed by Federer. Five consumers will have the opportunity to receive a three-day trip for two to New York this summer, where they can watch Federer "during one of the biggest tennis events of the year," according to Lindt.

The 2010 U.S. Open is being played in New York from Aug. 30-Sept. 12. Lindt is not an official U.S. Open marketing partner and is unable to use the event's branding or terminology in marketing.

In addition, all players will be entered into the grand prize sweepstakes for a chance to win a three-day trip for two to Zurich, Switzerland, to visit Lindt's global headquarters.  During the trip, the winner will attend a meet and greet with Federer and be given a personalized tour of the Lindt & Sprungli chocolate plant. The Federer campaign is also being supported via social media including Facebook and Twitter.

Federer, currently ranked No. 3 in the world behind Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, signed with Lindt last October as the company's first global celebrity endorser. Like Lindt, Federer is a native of Switzerland.

Federer's other endorsement deals include Nike, Rolex, Gillette, Jura, Mercedes Benz, NetJets and Wilson.

"The values Federer and Lindt share — Swiss, premium, passion, quality — makes our partnership a 'perfect match,'" Thomas Linemayr, CEO and president of Lindt USA, said in a statement.  "Our sweepstakes is a great way for consumers to get a personal taste of our Swiss heritage, and experience the enjoyment of our premium chocolate and tennis-related prizes."
