A YinzCam Mobile App A Day Helps Keep The NBA, Teams, Fans In Play

November 2, 2015: YinzCam, which already has alliances with more than 20 NBA teams, has extended its presence across the league, signing a deal to become an official team and arena mobile app developer for the NBA

The deal includes the NBA having an equity stake in YinzCam, a leading software and mobile app company based in Pittsburgh.

YinzCam said it is working with the NBA to redesign 22 team apps during the 2015-16 NBA season.  

New team apps, available on iOS and Android, will include automated location-based content, new “Watch” and “Listen” deep links for direct access to live games, and the implementation of Fabric, Twitter’s mobile development kit, according to YinzCam.

"I am delighted at the growth of YinzCam's business through our partnership with the NBA,” said Priya Narasimhan, CEO and founder for YinzCam, said in a statement. “The partnership has grown our platform into new directions, such as the Jr. NBA app, as well as a richer set of data-driven features, including a fan-data warehouse, social games, and a unique mobile-loyalty program encompassing ticketing, social, location and content."

NBA team alliances include the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.

YinzCam also is the NFL's official in-stadium handheld technology provider and has alliances that include 25 NFL teams, seven NHL teams, MSL's New England Revolution in MLS and USA Basketball.

Last December, YinzCam signed a deal with Learfield Sports, a marketing firm that handles media, sponsorship and promotional deals for nearly 100 colleges and conferences.

In addition to what was described as a more "streamlined and user-friendly design," highlights of the new NBA team apps include automated location-based content to personalize the home screen experience based on each fan’s location; “Watch” and “Listen” features to provide users with direct access to watch or listen to live games; Twitter Fabric to enhance user experience through the implementation of Twitter’s mobile development platform; and Single Sign-On, connecting multiple features in the app with a single username and password.

With the help of YinzCam’s technology, our team apps will deliver the customized experience the NBA’s tech-savvy fans demand, wherever they are and whenever they want it.”
