WWE’s 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Making History In Saudi Arabia Stadium

NYSJ Sports-Entertainment Business News Service

April 24, 2018:
The WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble has turned into a must-see event not only in King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the event is being staged, but also around the world.

According to the WWE, the first 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27 is “sold out.”

That would be 62,000-plus fans in attendance.

The Greatest Royal Rumble is the first event as part of a long-term partnership between WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The event is scheduled to stream live beginning 7 PM local time (Noon EST/9 AM PST), and be available on pay-per-view outside of the Middle East.

Per WWE, new subscribers to WWE Network can live-stream the event for free (details here).

The event will air live in the Middle East on MBC Action, KSA Sports 1, Abu Dhabi Sports 1 and Abu Dhabi Sports 6, as well as stream live on Dawri Plus.

A special, one-hour Greatest Royal Rumble Kickoff is scheduled to air at 11 AM. ET.

According to WWE, the Royal Rumble Match, a tradition dating back to 1988, begins with two participants, with a new Superstar throwing himself into the mix after a predetermined time interval has passed.

Additional competitors will continue to emerge until number 50 has officially entered the bout.

Elimination can happen at any time during the contest and can only take place when a Superstar has been thrown over the top rope and both of his feet hit the floor. The last Superstar left in the ring will be declared the victor.

Among the other highlights:

John Cena will face Triple H for the first time one-on-one since 2010
