The newly unveiled logo for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympics Games combines two iconic symbols associated with the Games – a gold medal and the Olympic torch – which combine to form an image of Marianne, a female figure representing the French Republic  This is the first time the Olympic logo will be shared with the Paralympic Games.

• The late golf icon Arnold Palmer will be commemorated with a Forever Stamp from the U.S. Postal Service in 2020. The stamp features James Drake's action photo of Palmer at the 1964 U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. Art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamp.

• Dr Teal's Epsom Salts has signed All Pro TE Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys) and two-time defending Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald (Los Angeles Rams) to explain in marketing the “benefits of balancing rigorous workouts with regimented muscle recovery in order to achieve and maintain peak performance.”

• Sacramento, California's capital city, has been awarded an MLS expansion team with Sacramento Republic FC becoming the league's 29th team and beginning play in MLS in 2022. The club will build a new, $300 million, 20,100-seat soccer stadium in the downtown Railyards District. 

• The Professional Baseball Agreement between MLB and minor league teams expires at the end of the 2020 season. But if a new MLB proposal were to become reality, more than three dozen cities with affiliated minor league teams will lose those teams a year from now and thousands of minor league players will be out of work as well. WWE Generates WrestleMania Record $181.5M Economic Impact For Orlando

November 15, 2017: It is no surprise when WWE says that its annual WrestleMania jewel event is a smashing success.

What might raise some eyebrows is that WrestleMania continues to raise the bar when it comes to financial results and economic impact.

WWE said that WrestleMania 33, held this past April in the Orlando Citrus Bowl, generated $181.5 million in direct, indirect and induced impact derived from spending in the Orlando region.

WWE said this marks a new record for WrestleMania and was the sixth consecutive year that WrestleMania generated more than $100 million in economic impact for its host region.

Among other factors, $24.8 million was spent on hotels and accommodations within Orlando and $9.3 million was spent by visitors to Orlando at area restaurants, according to a study conducted for WWE by Enigma Research Corp.

WrestleMania 33 also generated approximately $22.7 million in federal, state and local taxes.

WrestleMania 33 bested WrestleMania 32 in AT&T Stadium in 2016, which generated a then-record $170.4 million in economic impact derived from spending by visitors to the Dallas/Arlington region — including $25 million spent on hotels and accommodations and $8.4 million in area restaurants — according to Enigma Research.

WrestleMania 32 still holds the all-time attendance record for the event at 101,763.

Over the past 11 years, WrestleMania has generated more than $1 billion in cumulative economic impact for the cities that have hosted the event, according to WWE.

From a local perspective, a Citrus Bowl record crowd of 75,245 fans from around the world attended WrestleMania 33, “making it the highest-grossing ($14.4 million) and most-attended event in (the venue's) history,” according to WWE.

The previous Orlando Citrus Bowl attendance record was set by WrestleMania 24 in 2008 at 74,635.

"This historic result would not have been possible without the support of Mayor Dyer, the Central Florida Sports Commission and all of our public and private sector partners in Orlando that worked so hard to again welcome WWE’s global fan base,” John  Saboor, WWE evp-special events, said in a statement.

“We continue to be grateful to our fans who helped us deliver unprecedented economic results for our WrestleMania host city.”

Not just wrestling, WrestleMania became a romantic attraction when icon John Cena proposed in the ring to his girlfriend, Nikki Bella of the top-ranked Bella Twins (moments after they defeated The Miz and Marse in a tag-team match).

Among other stats culled by Enigma Research Corp regarding WrestleMania 33:

• 79% of fans that attended WrestleMania were from outside the Orlando region and stayed an average of 5.6 nights.

• The economic impact derived from WrestleMania Week was equal to the creation of 1,730 full-time jobs for the area.

WrestleMania 34 is scheduled for April 8, 2018 in the New Orleans Mercedes-Benz SuperDome.

(Tickets will be available Nov. 17 through Ticketmaster. The event will be streamed live worldwide on WWE Network.)

WWE is also looking farther ahead, taking bids from potential sites, following a strategy taken by the NFL, which names its Super Bowl host cities years in advance, and the International Olympic Committee, which names host cities for the Summer and Winter Games seven years in advance.

"The level of sophistication around our bid process is quite impressive," said John Brody, evp-global sales and head of international for WWE. "We put out RFPs (request for proposal). City and even state officials are part of those presentations. We ultimately make the decision based on a number of factors.

"But the commitment we have seen from Orlando, North Texas last year and already from New Orleans and the state of Louisiana has shown us that the power of WrestleMania is not just one day, one week. It’s the opportunity for us to leave a lasting impact in a city, a region," said Brody.
