WPBL Comes To The Plate For Inaugural Season With ESPN, High Hopes

July 30, 2026: Entering its premiere season, the Women’s Pro Baseball League said it has signed media rights deal with ESPN and the Scripps Sports Network to air games during the regular and post-season.
Under the agreement, ESPN will distribute WPBL content across all means and media.
Thirty-seven games will stream on ESPN during the inaugural season, including 11 regular-season games that will also be simulcast on the Scripps Sports Network.
ESPN will exclusively carry the WPBL post-season, including the Championship Series.
WPBL will be responsible for production of all game telecasts.
The WPBL season is scheduled to start Aug. 1 and will run through September, including the WPBL Championship Series, which will determine the league champion in a best-of-five format.
The league’s debut season will feature four teams – New York Heights, Boston Hunters, Los Angeles Queens, and San Francisco Firebells – and will be held in Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illi.
“Bringing the WPBL to ESPN is an exciting addition to our growing baseball offerings,” Ashley O’Connor, ESPN vp-programming, said via the network “This agreement enhances our already strong baseball lineup, underscores our dedication to women’s sports, and provides fans with access to a compelling new professional league.” 
The opening weekend game-day festivities include limited-edition bobbleheads featuring Mo’ne Davis and Kelsie Whitmore, player autograph sessions and limited-edition inaugural season merchandise available at the ballpark.
The WPBL was co-founded by Justine Siegal, also the first CEO and commissioner of the league. In 2009, she became the first female coach of a professional men's baseball team, when she worked for the Brockton Rox, in the independent Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball.
Siegal is the founder of Baseball For All, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for girls in baseball.
