FIFA ’s Big Score: World Cup Opening Ceremonies Include Katy Perry, Future, Tyla

May 8, 2026: People know the 48 teams that will playing in the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup.
Now they also know the musicians who will be playing in Opening Ceremonies.
For the first time in FIFA World Cup history, three Opening Ceremonies across Canada, Mexico and the United States will participate in a shared global celebration.
On June 11, Mexico opens the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico City (aka Estadio Azrteca) Stadium with an Opening Ceremony scheduled to include Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
The Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles (aka SoFi) Stadium June 12 is scheduled to feature Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla.
The Opening Ceremony in Toronto (BMO Field) Stadium, also June 12, is scheduled to headline Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince.
“The FIFA World Cup is a moment the world shares, and that begins with how we open it,” FIFA president Gianni Infantino said via the organization.
“Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next days with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament. It is a powerful way to begin a truly global celebration.”
FIFA said people in each stadium “will have an active role to play in the show and should plan to arrive early.”
Each opening ceremony will begin 90 minutes before kick-off. Gates will open four hours ahead of the start of each match, which FIFA said would offer “fans access to exclusive activations, captivating entertainment experiences, rewards and live pre-match programming throughout the venue”.
The three ceremonies are being produced in creative partnership with Balich Wonder Studio.
While praising all three Opening Ceremonies, Infantino said the Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles "represents the extraordinary scale of what the FIFA World Cup 2026 will become.
“The lineup of artists reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas, highlighting the nation’s rich influence on music, entertainment and pop culture, while showcasing the power of music to bring people together across the country.”
Of the Toronto concert he said, “The Opening Ceremony in Toronto will be a powerful reflection of Canada’s identity and the energy surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026.
“Through music, culture and unforgettable performances, we will welcome the world with a celebration that is uniquely Canadian while also connected to a larger story unfolding across Mexico and the United States. It will be a moment of pride, unity and anticipation as Canada takes its place on football’s biggest stage.”
And of Mexico City: “The FIFA World Cup is a moment the world shares, and that begins with how we open it,.
“Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next days with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament. Mexico will face South Africa in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The United States will face Paraguay in its opening match.
Canada will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in its opening match, marking the first FIFA World Cup game played by the Canadian Men’s National Team on home soil.
