April 22, 2019:
The 23rd WNBA season begins May 24, which features expanded coverage from ESPN’s networks with nationally televised games including ABC and ESPN.

Add to national media coverage CBS Sports, which has signed a multi-year deal with the league that begins in 2019 with 40 games.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This partnership is one of the biggest and most impactful women’s sports programming arrangements ever at CBS Sports,” Sean McManus, chairman, CBS Sports, said via the network.

The deal follows the WNBA signing AT&T to replace Verizon as the league’s marquee partner and have its logo on all team jerseys; as well as the unveiling of a new league logo.

This season, CBS Sports Network will feature national coverage of 40 live WNBA games in primetime and on weekends, beginning May 25.

“Through our partnership with CBS Sports Network, the WNBA is joining an elite lineup of premium sports programming,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said via the league.

“We thank CBS Sports for making such a meaningful commitment to women’s basketball and for providing another platform to showcase the world-class athletes of the WNBA.”

Among the highlights: The defending WNBA champion Seattle Storm and 11-time All-Star Sue Bird make six appearances on CBS Sports Network this season, including a WNBA Finals rematch against the Washington Mystics and Elena Delle Donne on June 14.

“We are truly excited to partner with the WNBA, bringing the country’s premier women’s sports league to CBS Sports Network . . .  offering national exposure of 40 games per year,” said McManus.

“This agreement provides great live content throughout the summer in primetime and on weekends, and aligns two great brands in the WNBA and CBS Sports. We look forward to working with the WNBA for many years to come.”
