Adidas Expands Marketing Partnership With WNBA

May 19, 2009: As WNBA players report to camp to prepare for the start of the 2009 season, adidas said it would build its role as a league partner with the launch of the adidas WNBA "Rookie Report Program." Several top rookies from the 2009 draft class will provide fans with weekly behind-the-scenes accounts of their first professional season via blogs on an adidas-branded section at WNBA.com. No. 4 pick Renee Montgomery (Minnesota Lynx) helped to launch the program with a blog today (May 19). Other participating players will include No. 1 pick Angel McCoughtry (Atlanta Dream), No. 2 pick Marissa Coleman (Washington Mystics) and No. 5 pick DeWanna Bonner (Phoenix Mercury). In addition, the adidas WNBA Rookie Report Program will recognize the league's future stars' outstanding play during the 2009 season with the adidas Rookie of the Month Awards, the adidas Rookie of the Year Award and the adidas All-Rookie Team. Adidas is entering its fourth season as the official on-court uniform and apparel provider for the WNBA. "This program will highlight the true depth of these players' accomplishments, as well as give our fans an exclusive look at some of their favorite rookies' experiences through first-hand accounts," WNBA president Donna Orender said in a statement.
