Traveling Is Allowed: Unrivaled Plans Eight-Stop Road Trip To Support ’27 Season

By Barry Janoff

UPDATED October 1, 2026: Unrivaled has filled in all the stops for its “Unrivaled on Tour with Ally,” the league’s month-long, cross-country bus tour to open the 2027 season with games in Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, home to the NBA Clippers, scheduled for Jan.8.

“Los Angeles is synonymous with basketball, with a rich culture and fanbase that continues to shape the sport,” Micky Lawler, Unrivaled commissioner, said via the league. “We’re thrilled to bring Unrivaled to LA and become part of a basketball community that has such a strong and lasting connection to the game.”

This marks the first time the league will feature four clubs in one city and four clubs in another on the same day (Jan. 8, 2027 TD Garden, Boston) to be revealed through “Unrivaled on Tour with Ally,” the league’s month-long, cross-country bus tour.

Cities currently feature or will soon be homes to WNBA teams, including Brooklyn (NY), Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and San Francisco; as well as Boston, where the Connecticut Sun (now relocated to Houston as the Comets) played one-off games in TD Garden in 2024, 2025 and 2026, averaging more than 19,000 per game.

UPDATED September 29, 2026: Unrivaled unveiled the first games in league history in San Francisco, scheduled for Jan. 11, 2027, in Chase Center, home to the WNBA Valkyries and NBA Warriors.

Editor's Note: This now marks the first time the league will feature four clubs in one city and four clubs in another on the same day (Jan. 11 Little Caesars Arena, Detroit). San Francisco was the seventh city to be revealed through “Unrivaled on Tour with Ally,” the league’s month-long, cross-country bus tour.

“San Francisco has established itself as a hub for women’s sports, with a passionate fanbase and a community that has embraced women’s basketball,” Micky Lawler, Unrivaled commissioner, said via the league. “We’re proud to bring Unrivaled to the Bay Area and showcase the energy, talent and innovation of our league in a market that has demonstrated such a strong commitment to the growth of women’s sports.”

UPDATED September 21, 2026: Unrivaled has named its first games in its history in Houston at Toyota Center on Feb. 12, 2027, Houston is the sixth city to be revealed through “Unrivaled on Tour with Ally,” the league’s month-long, cross-country bus tour engaging fans in each of its Season Three tour markets. (See full schedule below.)

“Few cities can match Houston’s legacy in women’s basketball, and we are incredibly excited to add to that story by welcoming Unrivaled to Toyota Center,” Gretchen Sheirr, President, Houston Rockets, Comets, Toyota Center said via Unrivaled.

“This event will feature some of the game’s most dynamic and talented players, and we look forward to creating an unforgettable experience for fans. It is another celebration of the sport’s remarkable momentum in our city and a reflection of Houston’s enduring passion for women’s basketball.”

The WNBA is returning to Houston in 2027 with the Connecticut Sun relocating and rebranding as the Houston Comets.

UPDATED September 17, 2026: Unrivaled unveiled the first games in its history in Minneapolis, scheduled for Target Center on Jan. 24, 2027. Minneapolis is the fifth city to be revealed through Unrivaled on Tour with Ally,” the league’s month-long, cross-country bus tour engaging fans in each of its Season Three tour markets.

“Bringing Unrivaled right to the amazing fans in Minneapolis is something we’ve been dreaming of since day one of the league, and we’re grateful for the city and Target Center’s support in making this possible,” Unrivaled co-founder Napheesa Collier said via the league.

“I have no doubt that the arena will be packed and ready to cheer on some of the best players in the world in the Unrivaled style that has truly changed the game on and off the court for women’s basketball.”

Collier, co-founder of Unrivaled with Brianna Stewart, plays for the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx.

UPDATED September 14, 2026: Unrivaled will play the first games in its history in Detroit presented by Ally, scheduled for Little Caesars Arena on Jan. 11, 2027.

Detroit is the fourth city to be revealed through “Unrivaled on Tour with Ally,” the league’s month-long, cross-country bus tour engaging fans in each of its Season Three tour markets.

Detroit-based Ally Financial’s presenting partnership of "Detroit is Unrivaled" builds on the recently announced founding partnership extension between the league and the company, continuing Ally's front-of-jersey patch placement for all teams and its presence across digital, social and on-site fan experiences.

The WNBA is expanding to Detroit in 2029.

September 10, 2026:  Unrivaled, the pro women’s 3x3 hoops league co-founded by WNBA stars Brianna Stewart and Napheesa Collier in 2023, said it is planning a road trip to help launch its third season.

“Unrivaled on Tour with Ally” games are currently scheduled to be played in Boston’s TD Garden to open the season on Jan. 8, 2027; followed by Brooklyn, NY’s Barclays Center on Jan. 22 and Philadelphia/s Xfinity Mobile Arena on Feb. 15

The Boston game is a first for Unrivaled.

The Philadelphia stop builds on Unrivaled’s successful debut in the city last season, which drew 21,490 people to Xfinity Mobile Arena, — a record attendance for a regular-season women's pro basketball game and for any event in the venue's history — for the league’s first regular-season game outside of Miami in its short history.

Unrivaled made $2 million in Philadelphia, according to league officials, “with more than half from ticket revenue along with merchandise sales and sponsors.”

The WNBA is expanding to Philadelphia in 2030.

Unrivaled also played in Brooklyn last season in January and then the semifinals of the 2026 Unrivaled Playoffs Sponsored by Samsung March 2.

Stewart, co-founder of Unrivaled with Napheesa Collier, plays for the WNBA’s New York Liberty, which play their home games in Barclays Center.

The remaining of up to eight host cities will be unveiled later this month and in October.

“We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiastic support from both Governor Healey and TD Garden that made Unrivaled coming to Boston a reality – and an exciting way to start our third season,” Micky Lawler, Unrivaled commissioner, said via the league.

“We’re looking forward to engaging with the city’s strong basketball fanbase that will undoubtedly make our first-ever games in Boston unforgettable.”

Regarding Brooklyn, Lawler said “the strong reception and sellout in just two weeks-time from announcement to last year’s New York tour stop made it a no-brainer for Unrivaled to return in season Three.”

And for Philadelphia: “Philadelphia is known for having some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and we saw that firsthand last season,” said Lawler. “After the incredible response we received, we couldn’t imagine taking Unrivaled on tour without coming back to the city where our story on the road began.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Unrivaled back to Xfinity Mobile Arena,” Blair Listino, chief financial and administrative officer for Comcast Spectacor, said via the company.

“Last year’s stop in Philadelphia was electric and proved what we’ve known: Philly sports fans show up for women’s sports in a big way. Bringing Unrivaled back reflects our continued commitment to growing women’s sports in our city while showcasing world-class competition and delivering unforgettable events for fans across the region.”
