The Grey Report: Digital Sports Media Vet Brian Grey Named CEO Of Bleacher Report

June 17, 2010: Brian Grey, whose presence has affected the growth and development of digital sports media over the past ten years, has been named CEO of Bleacher Report, one of the top sports destinations on the Internet.

Grey officially joins the company in July and will be based out of its headquarters in San Francisco.

Grey most recently served as an executive-in-residence at Polaris Venture Partners, a venture capital firm with offices in Boston and Seattle, where since October 2008 he evaluated and advised various digital and technology businesses. Prior to that he was svp and GM for Fox Sports Interactive from 2005-08 and GM of Yahoo! Sports, which he joined in 2001. His resume also includes executive positions with Nike, AOL/Netscape and Shutterfly

“Brian’s experience and reputation within the online sports industry makes him the perfect executive to lead Bleacher Report into its next phase of growth,” Dave Nemetz, Bleacher Report co-founder and vp-business development, said in a statement.  “We look forward to working closely with him and the rest of our team as we pursue opportunities that lie ahead of our business.”

During his time at Fox, Grey oversaw the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Fox Sports’ digital businesses, including FoxSports.com, Fox Sports Mobile, Scout Media and Whatifsports.com. He also directed the expansion of FSI’s original video production and programming in concert with the Fox Sports broadcast and Fox Sports Net cable television groups. While at Yahoo! Sports, he played a key role in driving the site's growth among fans and fantasy players.

“Bleacher Report is well positioned to continue its growth as one of the engines helping shape the evolution of digital media content development, distribution and monetization within a consumer media environment that craves content breadth and depth, social media community experiences and access to digital media across multiple outlets and devices," Grey said in a statement.
