May 12, 2026: ESPN, the broadcast rights-holder for Super Bowl LXI, has signed an agreement with TelevisaUnivision for broadcast rights in the United States, meaning that there will be two Spanish-language telecasts for the game in February 2027 in SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles.
Under the agreement, ESPN Deportes and Univision will each produce and air separate Spanish-language presentations, including dedicated commentary teams for each broadcast. ESPN and ABC will air the English-language telecast.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
“We’re pleased to collaborate with TelevisaUnivision to expand access to Super Bowl LXI for Spanish-speaking fans across the U.S.,” Oscar Ramos,vp-digital content and ESPN Deportes, said via the network.
“ESPN Deportes has a long history of serving NFL fans in the Hispanic community, and presenting Super Bowl LXI through multiple Spanish-language telecasts builds on that commitment.”
Super Bowl LXI marks ESPN Deportes’ fourth Super Bowl presentation.
TelevisaUnivision will bring Super LXI to Univision following its first national Spanish-language broadcast of an NFL game for Super Bowl LVIII. It has a decades-long partnership with the NFL as a free-to-air media partner in Mexico.
This will the first Super Bowl to air on ESPN, with ABC also getting broadcast rights.
ABC previously aired Super Bowls XXII (1988), Super Bowl XXV (1991), Super Bowl XXIX (1995), Super Bowl XXXIV (2000), Super Bowl XXVII (2003) and Super Bowl XL (2006).
“Hispanic audiences bring an unmatched energy and passion to the sports they love, and their fandom for the NFL has grown significantly,” Olek Loewenstein, TelevisaUnivision president of Sports, said via the network.
“We’re excited to be teaming up with ESPN to deliver the Super Bowl to Hispanic America – elevating the viewing experience with coverage that connects, in-culture and in-language.”
ESPN said the collaboration "significantly expands Spanish-language access to Super Bowl LXI, making the game available to millions of Spanish-speaking fans across the U.S. through the combined reach of ESPN Deportes and Univision and further adds to ESPN’s Year of the Super Bowl."
“Hispanic consumers are an undeniable force in mainstream culture and essential to the growth of any business,” John Kozack, president of U.S. advertising sales and marketing, said via TelevisaUnivision.
“In today’s fragmented world, what works is authenticity, cultural relevance, and showing up in the places that truly get your audience. And no one gets Hispanics like TelevisaUnivision does,”
Additional details on ESPN Deportes’ and Univision’s Super Bowl LXI presentations will be announced at a later date.
This past February, immediately following Super Bowl LX, Disney and ESPN launched the “Year of the Super Bowl “ celebration – a 12 month, multi-platform effort building toward Super Bowl LXI, ESPN’s first Super Bowl broadcast, which will also air on ABC Feb. 14, 2027.
“‘We’re Going’ is about inviting fans along for the ride as ESPN prepares to produce its first Super Bowl,” Jo Fox, ESPN svp-marketing, said via the network. “Each new piece of creative is an opportunity to celebrate our Year of the Super Bowl in a way that feels big, fun, and unexpected, just like the game itself.
“Authenticity is at the core of how we show up at ESPN, and for a Draft-inspired spot, having commissioner Goodell involved was essential. We’re grateful to him and the NFL for helping bring this to life around one of the league’s biggest moments.”
The first “We’re Going to the Super Bowl” spot featured a roster of Disney stars, including from Star Wars, Marvel, Toy Story, The Simpsons, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Peyton and Eli Manning and Sesame Street.
It plays off the long-running commercial that airs after each Super Bowl, when the MVP of the game is asked what he’s doing next: “Going to Disney World/DIsneyland.”
Inspired by the NFL Draft, the humorous “On the Clock” spot stars NFL commissioner Roger Goodell alongside ESPN’s Super Bowl commentators Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and Laura Rutledge, as well as Sunday NFL Countdown host Mike Greenberg.
As “The Year of the Super Bowl” unfolds, ESPN and Disney said they would continue to release new stories, celebratory moments and creative activations.
