• Under Armour said this morning that Patrik Frisk, the company’s president and COO, would become its new CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2020. He will also remain president. Company founder, chairman and CEO Kevin Plank, will become executive chairman and brand chief. According to Friske via Under Armour, "The opportunity that lies ahead of us is incredible as our entire global team continues to lean hard into our transformation."

• Sacramento, California's capital city, has been awarded an MLS expansion team with Sacramento Republic FC becoming the league's 29th team and beginning play in MLS in 2022. The club will build a new, $300 million, 20,100-seat soccer stadium in the downtown Railyards District. 

• Octagon and the National Women’s Soccer League have signed a multi-tier consulting partnership, in which Octagon’s Global Media Rights Consulting and Marketing divisions will "advise the NWSL on its league media rights, sponsorship, and marketing." “The growth of the NWSL over the past six years has been tremendous, and the league, its teams and players show absolutely no sign of slowing down,” Christine Franklin, SVP, Marketing, Octagon, said via the firm.

• The Professional Baseball Agreement between MLB and minor league teams expires at the end of the 2020 season. But if a new MLB proposal were to become reality, more than three dozen cities with affiliated minor league teams will lose those teams a year from now and thousands of minor league players will be out of work as well. Ticket To Ride: Super Bowl, World Series, CFB Top-Selling 2018 Events Via StubHub

December 4, 2018: Everyone has their favorite sports and music events of 2018, but StubHub has the numbers to show which events actually were the best-sellers for the past year.

Topping the list: Super Bowl LII with the New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles as the best-selling ticket in the U.S., Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker as the top-selling event worldwide (excluding the U.S.), Bruce Springsteen as the top-selling musician in U.S. tickets and Ed Sheeran as No. 1 in music worldwide.

The information was revealed by StubHub in its fourth annual Year in Live Experiences report.

"The power of live experiences transcends languages and borders," Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, president of StubHub, said via the San Francisco-based company.

"This year, StubHub saw fans from 144 countries cross borders to travel to live events, indicating that shared experiences pull people together, even during challenging times.”

After Super Bowl LII, among the Top Ten best-selling sports event in the U.S., the 2018 College Football Championship with the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Georgia Bulldogs was No. 2; followed by Games 3-4-5 from the 2018 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers, all played in Los Angeles.

Game 2 of the World Series, played in Boston, came in at No. 9.

Worldwide, Anthony Joshua was No. 1 and No. 2 (vs. Alexander Povetkin), followed by three NFL games in London and a NBA game in London.

Cassidy said that with nearly 200,000 StubHub customers crossing borders to attend more than 30,000 events in 2018, “It’s clear that people continue to love being with fellow fans, seeing their favorite artists or teams live."
