Oracle Signs 20-Year, $350M Naming Rights Deal For San Francisco Giants Stadium

January 10, 2019: The home stadium for MLB’s San Francisco Giants, known as AT&T Park since 2006, will have a new name for the 2019 season.

The Giants have signed a 20-year naming rights deal with tech firm Oracle, already a team partner,, that runs through 2038.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

However, Larry Baer, Giants president and CEO, told local media that the pact is “very much in line with other recent naming-rights deals for top-tier facilities.”

That would put the deal in the $300-$350 million range, according to industry analysts.

The venue, located at 24 Willie Mays Plaza, opened in 2000 as Pacific Bell Park, with which the team signed a 23-year deal in 1996 for naming rights valued at $100 million. The name changed to SBC Park in 2003 when SBC bought Pacific Telesis and then to AT&T Park in 2006 when SBC bought AT&T and used that company’s name.

AT&T signage was in the process of being replaced with Oracle Park banners today as the team held a media conference to unveil the deal.

Although the Giants' naming rights agreement with AT&T ran through the end of 2019, AT&T last year told the team that it planned to end the deal at the end of 2018 due to a change in company sponsorship strategy.

Baer said there were “several national and local companies interested in the (naming rights) opportunity,”

“Oracle — a longstanding partner of the Giants — was a perfect fit because of its deep roots in the Bay Area, its position as a global leader in technology and innovation, and its shared commitment to community values of diversity and inclusion, sustainability, education and philanthropy,” Baer said during the media conference.

“We look forward to engaging in a model partnership."

Oracle, based in Redwood City (about 25 miles south of San Francisco), has sponsored a suite level at the venue since 2003 and holds events and activations there.

Oracle currently has naming rights to the Oakland home arena for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors are scheduled to move into Chase Center, now under construction, in San Francisco for the 2019-20 NBA season, with Oracle ending its naming rights deal.

Beyond naming rights, Oracle said it would work with the Giants on other initiatives, marketing and activation.

Oracle said it would partner with the Giants to invest in a number of improvements to Oracle Park over the next five years, including the addition of a new state-of-the-art scoreboard and signage and other ballpark upgrades .

The Giants and Oracle will also “utilize emerging technologies to create unique experiences for fans . . . will develop a signature community outreach program (and) build unique sports hospitality experiences to engage Oracle customers and members of the community.”

According to Mark Hurd, CEO for Oracle, “The Giants have always been on the forefront of bringing innovative experiences to baseball, and we are excited to continue that tradition.

”Together we will create an incredible fan experience and develop programs to engage and impact the community in new ways."
