Chicago's Rose Leads NBA Rookies In Jersey Sales, On All-Rookie Team

April 30, 2009: Derrick Rose, the NBA's No. 1 draft pick by the Chicago Bulls, added to his Rookie of the Year honors by being named to the All-Rookie First Team and also leading all first-year players in jersey sales. Rose was second among rookie scorers this past season with a 16.8 scoring average, just behind fellow All-Rookie First Team member O.J. Mayo (18.5 points a game) of the Memphis Grizzles, and led rookies with 6.3 assists per game. His Bulls jersey ranked No. 11 among all NBA players this past season but was No. 1 among rookies, according to figures complied by the NBA based on sales at the NBA Store in New York and at NBAStore.com. Chicago Bulls merchandise was No. 5 on the list, behind the Lost Angeles, Lakers, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Kobe Bryant led all players in jersey sales, followed by LeBron James. Specific sales figures were not released by the NBA. Other members of the All-Rookie First Team were Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook, New Jersey Nets' Brook Lopez and Michael Beasley of the Miami Heat. The NBA rookie second team included Eric Gordon of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami's Mario Chalmers, Charlotte Hornets' D.J. Augustin, Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies and the Portland Trail Blazers' Rudy Fernandez. Back to Home Page
