• NBC Sports Nascar analyst Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy, an interior designer, "will transform a dilapidated 150-year-old historic home in Key West, Fla., into a gorgeous coastal retreat" in DIY Network’s new series, Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy. The four-episode series premieres Saturday, June 2.

• The National September 11 Memorial & Museum and NHL Hall of Famer Mark Messier announced a new special exhibition, “Comeback Season: Sports After 9/11,” which explores how “sports and athletes helped to unite the country, console a grieving nation and give us a reason to cheer again following the 2001 attacks.” Opens June 27. • Athletes First, a sports agency that represents such athletes as Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthew, Nick Foles, Josh Norman, Jamaal Charles and Deshaun Watson; and coaches including Jason Garrett and Urban Meyer, is launching Athletes First Partners (A1P), an international sales and marketing services company.

A1P's said its first client is Think450, the for-profit subsidiary of the National Basketball Players Assn., for which it would “help monetize collective sponsorship, licensing and content opportunities” on behalf of the 450 professional NBA players the Union represents.

Puma Bullish On Chicago With New Retail Location

November 24, 2009: Sports and lifestyle footwear and apparel company Puma said it plans to add a second retail location in Chicago, and third in the region, picking "Black Friday," Nov. 27, to unveil what it calls "a unique new retail concept."

The store, located in the Chicago State Street development  at the corner of North State and Randolph, joins the original store on North Rush Street as Chicago locations. Puma also has a retail location in the Woodfield Shopping Center in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The the two-floor, 8,000 square-foot space at  Chicago State Street will be the first to feature the entire array of Puma products, including sport-performance, sport-lifestyle and sport-fashion; soccer cleats and performance running sneakers; and high-fashion collaboration projects with Alexander McQueen and Mihara Yasuhiro. The store will also house essential Puma collections such as Puma Archive and Puma Denim.

Puma said it would follow the opening with a celebration on Dec. 1 that would such in-store events as " sweets, prizes, and other goodies," as well as local athletes and performers. These "employees" will donate their "wages" to the charitable foundation formed by the Chicago Red Stars' Women's Professional Soccer team, which will have representatives at the store. Chicago's Jump Smokers are scheduled to performing 7-8PM.

“We felt that now was the right time to open a brand store that spoke to everything that Puma stands for,” Jay Piccola, President and GM of Puma North America, said in a statement. “During these tough economic times, the brands that stay true to themselves are the ones that will survive. Now more than ever, it’s important for PUMA to showcase the best of the brand to the world.”

Added Jeff Dunn, Puma North America’s vp-retail, “We chose Chicago and State Street because of its location, the city culture, and the local community known for their love of shopping, sports, creativity, and innovation. We feel that this will be a great home for Puma, and a place the local Chicago consumer will truly embrace.”
