Pepsi Fetes Browns Return To NBC ‘SNF’ With Limited ‘BelieveLand’ Orange Soda

By Barry Janoff

September 17, 2019: Led by second-year quarterback Baker Mayfield, new wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and All-Pro DE Myles Garrett, the Cleveland Browns have become the flavor of the NFL season.

Earlier this month, Bud Light Victory Fridges were available for sale in a pop-up B.L. & Brown's Appliance Superstore in Cleveland, continuing the theme from 2018 when Bud Light stocked local pubs Victory Fridges with its product, which opened when the team won its first game of the season.

Now, Pepsi is showing its creative support for the team.

To celebrate the return of the Browns to NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the first time in 11 seasons (Sept. 22), Pepsi is introducing a limited-edition "BelieveLand" Pepsi, which is “a custom orange-colored cola.” (The Browns’ official team colors are brown, orange and white.)

Pepsi said it would  produce only 1,100 bottles of "BelieveLand" Pepsi  — 100 for every year Cleveland has had to wait for Sunday Night Football to return, hosting the Los Angeles Rams in FirstEnergy Stadium.

"When we saw the game on the Sunday Night Football schedule this year, we knew we had to do something to celebrate with the city," Todd Kaplan, vp-marketing for Pepsi, said via the brand.

"We wanted to celebrate the fact that after an 11-year wait, Sunday Night Football has finally returned to Cleveland."

The Bud Light strategy was the result of the Browns going 1-16 in 2016 and then 0-16 in 2017. The Victory Fridges open on Sept. 20, 2018, when the Browns defeated the New York Jets, 21-17, en route to a 7-8-1 record.

Of the 1,100 "Believeland" Pepsi bottles produced, five will feature “special golden labels” with a prize for the recipients (details on Pepsi's Twitter page).

Some bottles will be given out during the week, the rest will be available for free (while supplies last) at a tailgate party on Sept. 22 in Lindey's Lake House Flats.

The label on the 20 oz. bottles reads, “BelieveLand Sunday Night Edition” on the front, with the date (9-22-19) and Pepsi and Sunday Night Football logos on the back.

Pepsi is supporting via social media (#GoBelieveLand) and local activation; and with Garrett, who is sharing information via his social media accounts.

According to Garrett, “There has been so much hype and energy building among fans across the country this year.

"It's amazing that Pepsi is doing something extra special with the launch of 'Believeland' Pepsi and party on Sunday.”

Pepsi said people get in for free and the party will feature a performance by lovelytheband, the limited batch of "Believeland" Pepsi and fan trivia with prizes.
