Under Armour Builds NFL Roster With Dallas Cowboys' All-Pro Miles Austin

September 16, 2010: With an eye looking at NFL sales and another looking at Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium, Under Armour said it has signed Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl wide receiver Miles Austin to a multi-year deal.

Terms of the pact were not disclosed. Austin joins an Under Armour roster that includes NFL players Ray Lewis (Baltimore Ravens), Brandon Jacobs (New York Giants), Rey Maualuga (Cincinnati Bengals) and Vernon Davis (San Francisco 49ers). Austin will wear Under Armour cleats and apparel throughout the season in what is believed to be his first national marketing deal.

Miles AustinThe Baltimore, MD-based sports performance apparel, footwear and accessories company said that Austin would various in-store and advertising promotional campaigns. Austin is considered one of the league's top young receivers, having established solid numbers in 2009. Despite spending the first month of the season as a reserve, Austin led the National Football Conference with 1,320 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.

Austin, who recently signed a contract extension with Dallas through the 2016 season, has also been in the spotlight off the field via his relationship with high-profile reality star Kim Kardashian. Under Armour is ramping up its NFL profile even as it prepares to launch its first basketball shoe line this November.

"I am extremely excited to announce our partnership with Miles Austin,” Kevin Plank, founder and CEO of Under Armour, said in a statement about the fifth-year pro. “His on-field success is a product of his incredible work ethic and disciplined training regimen.  We look forward to working with Miles, as he reflects our mission to make all athletes better.”

According to Austin, “Under Armour is a tremendous company. It’s a company that’s caught fire in our league and all over. My commitment to training has helped me become a better football player, and I am thrilled to represent a brand that shares my desire to perform at the highest level.”
