Ten In Ten: NCAA Names Sites For CFB National Championship Games 2021-24

By Barry Janoff

November 1, 2017: If you are looking to plan future trips around the College Football Playoff National Championship games, the NCAA has accommodated you through 2024.

Including four sites named today, for the first ten years in the playoff system, the National Championship game will be played in ten different locations.

The sites named today include: 2021 Miami-South Florida (Hard Rock Stadium), 2022 Indianapolis (Lucas Oil Stadium), 2023 Los Angeles ($2.3 billion Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park, currently under construction) and 2024 Houston (NRG Stadium).

“When we created the playoff, we said we wanted to move the National Championship game around,” Bill Hancock, executive director for the CFP, said in statement.

“We have done that. We call it ‘ten in ten’ — ten different communities will have hosted the national championship game in the first ten years of the playoff. The CFP National Championship is one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and we’re proud to bring the game to fans in different regions of the country,” said Hancock.

The 2018 game will be played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta; 2019 in Levi’s Stadium, south of San Francisco; and 2020 in New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The first three National Championship games under the new playoff format were played in AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas (2015), University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Az. (2016) and Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Fla. (2017))

“Each of the four cities chosen (for 2021-24) met or exceeded our standards for selection,” Hancock said.

“Each has a first-class stadium that our fans will enjoy, a great convention center, excellent hotels for teams and fans and the communities have successful track records of hosting major events. Each city also has wonderful, supportive people who we rely on to host a successful game.”
