She posted her decision on her social media platform — calling it a “power pause” — a move that comes just weeks before the start of the 2025-26 season.
Henault did not provide a specific reason for her departure or when she would be going.
“After nearly three remarkable years as the CMO of the NBA, I’m excited to share that I'll be embarking on a new journey, taking a well-deserved ‘power pause’ to explore what’s next,” she wrote.
“What an extraordinary privilege it has been to help grow and evolve one of the most iconic brands in the world — expanding our global audience, deepening fan engagement, driving digital innovation, and strengthening the NBA’s cultural impact.”
The NBA has not as yet named a replacement.
Henault has been with the league since October 2022,, moving from svp-consumer marketing, streaming, for Paramount+. She replaced Kate Jhaveri,
Henault previously served as managing director of consumer marketing at The New York Times, focusing on digital subscriptions; and also held marketing roles at People, Time and InStyle.
“Looking back, we achieved significant milestones,” Henault posted of her time at the NBA
“Marketing Transformation: Built new integrated marketing approaches across disciplines, enhanced storytelling with award-winning campaigns, and ensured we had data-driven rigor incorporated every step of the way.
“Global Brand & Fan Growth: Successfully refreshed the global brand identity, brought the live fan experience worldwide with NBA House, pulled the next generation of superstars into the spotlight, and tailored campaigns to speak authentically to fans in markets around the world.
“New Launches: Launched new tentpoles such as the inaugural In-Season Tournament and rebrand to Emirates NBA Cup, launched new digital products, expanded creator marketing programs, and set the stage for unprecedented growth with our new set of media distribution partners this upcoming season.
“Cultural Relevancy: Forged impactful brand ambassador partnerships with some of music’s biggest stars, co-created with today’s biggest celebrity talent and influential voices to help tell our story, showcased the diversity of our fans and activated around cultural moments that matter.”
According to Renault, “These milestones reflect the creativity, passion, and drive for excellence from my incredible marketing team, colleagues across the league and teams and our global partners. As we gear up to tip-off the 25-26 season, I'll be hard at work alongside the team to set up the new season for success.
“Stay tuned for more thank-yous and reflections as I wrap up in a few weeks. For now, know I’m immensely proud of our collective achievements and inspired by what’s to come.”
