• Bluberi Gaming has signed a deal with WWE to develop a series of licensed slot games featuring WWE Superstars and Legends. Among those to be featured include John Cena, Triple H, Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey. The first WWE series of slot games is scheduled to hit casinos October 2020.

• HarperCollins Publishers said it has acquired world rights to Back, the first memoir authored by Tiger Woods. According to Woods, “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts.” A publication date was not given.

• Halloween this year is Oct. 31, and retailers, marketers and consumers are ready for another season of trick-or-treat. Total spend on Halloween 2019 is expected to reach $8.8 billion according to the National Retail Federation, Washington, DC. Full story here.

Naomi Osaka Boosts Marketing Roster With Recovery-Performance Brand Hyperice

On the same day that Naomi Osaka was named the No. 1 seed for the upcoming U.S. Open, the two-time Grand Slam winner has signed a deal with Hyperice, a recovery and performance technology brand that specializes in vibration and percussion fitness devices.

She joins such athletes as Blake Griffin and Lindsey Vonn on the roster.

Financial terms were not released.

A multi-media marketing campaign with Osaka has launched via an intro spot, “Always Moving.”

Hyperice said it recently launched several products that target the needs of professional athletes.

According to Osaka, the alliance with the brand was organic.

“When I first started using Hyperice, I immediately noticed a difference in how loose yet strong my body felt,” Osaka, 21, who was born in and represents Japan, said via the company. “I feel it is my duty as a professional athlete to educate my peers on the importance of taking recovery seriously.

“Previously, I would think to warmup and recover before and after a tough practice or game. Now, I’m using Hyperice’s technology in my everyday life to make sure my body and overall health are being prioritized.”

Osaka, who is seeking to defend her 2018 U.S. Open title, which she followed with the Australian Open crown this past January, has a solid endorsement roster anchored by a multi-year, multi-million deal with Nike, MasterCard, Nissan, Citizen Watches, Procter & Gamble, Nippon Airways, Shiseido, Nissan Foods and Powwow.

She earned more than $24 million over the past year — including $16 million from endorsements — and is the second highest paid woman athlete in the world behind Serena Williams ($29.2 million), according to Forbes.

According to the company, “Through this partnership, Osaka and Hyperice seek to educate athletes about the use of Hyperice technology to optimize athletic performance and wellness.

“As a representative of Japan, Osaka hopes to bring Hyperice’s advanced expertise and recovery technology into the lives of athletes and health-conscious enthusiasts across the globe.”

“Hyperice is honored to be working with such a young, powerful, global talent such as Naomi,” Jim Huether, CEO forf Hyperice, said via the company. “She embodies the true spirit of a professional athlete – strong, competitive, and resilient.

“We believe this partnership will help athletes in Japan, the U.S., and throughout the world, continue to see the importance of recovery for overall wellness. We hope to help Naomi perform at the highest levels possible for the longest period of time.”

In the spot, shot in black-and-white, Osaka talks about herself as we see her playing tennis and using Hyerpice products.

“Just because I’m young doesn’t mean I’m inexperienced," she says. "Just because I’m humble doesn’t mean I lack confidence. Just because I’m quiet doesn’t mean I lack power.

“Just because I’m serious doesn’t mean I lack a sense of humor. And just because I’m nice, don’t let that fool you.

“You can try to label be, but you can never define me. Because It’s what I do that defines me. I never listen to the noise.I just keep moving.”
