MLB Celebrates 'The Sandlot' 25th Anniversary With Marketing, Merchandise

March 26, 2018: MLB has lifted the curtain on a multi-platform effort with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot, a youth baseball-themed movie released 1993 that has gone on to be regarded among the all-time favorites in the sports film category.

According to MLB, “With the game of baseball playing such a pivotal part of the story, it is a natural fit for MLB to celebrate the film’s anniversary through events and screenings at its ballparks.”

The film’s silver anniversary will be feted throughout the MLB season with marketing, merchandise, youth-oriented programs, screenings and in-stadium efforts with more than 20 MLB teams to include appearances by members of the original cast.

A special 25th anniversary collector’s edition Blu-ray of The Sandlot (available on March 27 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment) includes a set of ten custom Topps baseball cards — featuring Scotty Smalls, Benny “The Jet” and the rest of the roster — created exclusively for this release.

Fox Consumer Products has collaborated with several licensees to commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot, including Tervis tumblers and New Era baseball caps at select retailers, MLB team stores and on

An new collection of exclusive The Sandlot merchandise has been released on, including apparel, blankets, mugs and other products specific to the film.

The Sandlot-inspired Play Ball T-shirts will be worn by players while taking batting practice during each club’s official Play Ball Weekend activation this season.

Giveaways include The Sandlot 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and The Sandlot-inspired Play Ball T-shirts.

Among the teams involved are he Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Oakland A’s, Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.
