MLB Likes The Look Of Tommy Bahama
October 14, 2009: The next time you sing, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," you also could make a fashion statement by wearing a limited-edition, custom-designed shirt with baseball-inspired artwork and graphics from Tommy Bahama. The Seattle-based lifestyle brand has signed a multi-year agreement with Major League Baseball Properties to create a co-branded collection of premium apparel. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Tommy Bahama said it would create a series of limited signature-style shirts custom designed for Major League Baseball as part of the "Collector's Edition," with each shirt numbered and authenticated. The first product to hit market will be 2009 World Series shirts, which will be available to coincide with the opening game of this year's World Series exclusively online at www.Tommybahama.com and select Tommy Bahama's retail locations. Subsequent "Collector's Edition" shirts will be available for opening day of the 2010 baseball season.
"We are proud to be associated with Major League Baseball on this project," Terry Pillow, CEO for Tommy Bahama, said in a statement. "This partnership is a natural for us. Our customers are baseball fans and this gives us the opportunity to offer them special limited edition, baseball-inspired product that is consistent with the quality and aesthetic of the Tommy Bahama brand."
According to Howard Smith, svp-licensing for MLB, "Major League Baseball continuously looks for ways to broaden our connection with our fans, especially throughout the postseason. We recognize the strength of the Tommy Bahama brand, and are thrilled to offer fans such an exclusive opportunity during the most exciting time of year for baseball." Back to Home Page
