• State Farm has signed a deal to become the exclusive official insurer of the Big3-on-3 basketball league, including branding throughout Big3 arenas in all 18 cities this summer on basket stanchion pads, center court jumbotrons and courtside LED signage. The company will also present Big3 games played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on July 7.

• SunTrust and BB&T financial firms said that Truist Financial would be the name of the company following their merger later this year. The name — “intended to give the bank a single, fresh identity” — could also become the new name for the home venue for the Atlanta Braves, now known as SunTrust Stadium.

• CBS Sports Digital has unveiled MVP Sports Marketing, an “initiative that will help brands build strong and sustainable engagement in local sports communities around the country.” An in-house team will "leverage CBS Sports Digital’s deep community connections through its nationwide coverage of high school and college sports and partner with brands to “develop unique multi-faceted sponsorships that build brand equity, deepen consumer relationships and drive revenue.”

• BBVA Compass Stadium, home to the MLS Houston Dynamo, has been renamed BBVA Stadium as part of financial company BBVA Group's overall rebranding process.

• The LPGA said it would “implement a comprehensive integrity program, in partnership with Genius Sports, to deliver sports-betting related monitoring, education and structures for the management of investigations.”

“Sports betting is certainly coming and we’ll have to get our hands around it," LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said via the organization. “Sports betting may bring another wave of worldwide sports fans to the LPGA, but it will require us to be protected and supported by experts like Genius."

• Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich have each topped one million votes in the first National League results released by MLB for the 2019 All-Star Game in the All-Star Game Ballot presented by Google. Full story here.

MiLB Hits Long Fly Ball With Allegiant Air With Official Partnership, Marketing

July 26, 2018: There are 160 teams in Minor League Baseball located in all parts of the nation in cities and towns big and small.

Now, the players on those teams have an official airline.

MiLB has signed a deal naming Allegiant Air, based in Las Vegas, the “official airline of Minor League Baseball.”

MiLB and Allegiant said they have more than 115 current overlapping markets in the U.S.

Financial terms were not released.

"We're beyond excited to announce this new partnership with Minor League Baseball and to become the official airline for clubs nationwide," Scott DeAngelo, Allegiant CMO, said in a statement.

"Since 2001, Allegiant has flown countless sports fans to cheer on their home teams on affordable, nonstop flights, and this partnership reinforces our commitment to the 118 communities we serve as their hometown airline,” said DeAngelo.

As part of multi-platform media support, Allegiant said it would “engage with fans through various touch-points in the ballpark as they cheer on their favorite MiLB teams.”

At select games, fans can participate in "Friday Fly Away" giveaways for a chance to win nonstop flights to destinations across the U.S.

Allegiant will also serve as the naming rights partner of a “digital advertising network that spans multiple MiLB markets across the country. “

Other aspects of the partnership consist of inclusion in the MiLB Charities CommUNITY initiative, an ongoing program to promote unity, understanding, acceptance and inclusion at MiLB ballparks.

Following the season Allegiant said it would be a resenting partner at the 2018 Baseball Winter Meetings in Las Vegas (Dec. 9–13).

According to David Wright, CMO for MiLB, ”Our two organizations share a collective vision for and commitment to the communities we serve.

“We are proud to partner with an industry leader, and look forward to amplifying key activations and extending the partnership beyond the ballpark."

National MiLB partners also include John Deere, Bush’s Best, Uncle Rays, FIS, ServiceMaster, Sunrun and Tickets.com.
