June 2, 2016: The Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to move into their new NFL home, U.S. Bank Stadium, with an exhibition game against the San Diego Chargers on Aug. 28, but the smoke might still be clearing and the walls might still be shaking from a Metallica concert in the venue on Aug. 20.
In their only live concert of the summer, Metallica has sold out the stadium and dominates the list of highest average sales per show for dates from Memorial Day to Labor Day, according to online ticket outlet StubHub.
The Metallica concert is outselling the next highest performer, Pearl Jam, by 400% and Guns N' Roses by 845% on the StubHub site.
Metallica will be headlining the first rock concert at in U.S. Bank Stadium, which will host Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4, 2018. No slackers here: Metallica is also expected to finish their tenth studio album over the summer.
Among top selling acts, which includes total sales for all dates on StubHub from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Adele has replaced Taylor Swift at the No. 1 position that Swift held during the Summer of 2015.
Putting that into perspective, StubHub said that while Adele tops the list this summer in total sales, "she’s still far behind Taylor Swift’s huge 2015 summer," which outsold Adele’s 2016 tour by 643%.
Swift had almost double the amount of summer shows as Adele, which led to what StubHub called her "historic summer."
With a similar number of shows this summer, Adele is narrowly outselling Coldplay to top the list by approximately 7%. She is, however, outselling the No. 10 ranked artist, Billy Joel, by 153%.
Adele also holds the distinction of "having generated the highest sale for a single ticket as well as the highest average price per ticket," according to San Francisco-based StubHub.
Among summer music festivals, Lollapalooza "maintains its position from 2015 as the highest selling festival on StubHub for the summer."
The 25th anniversary of Lollapalooza is being held July 28-31 in Chicago's Grant Park.
And showing that hot summer shows are not just for Drake (29) or Justin Bieber (22), iconic musician Paul McCartney (73) has a strong presence on both of StubHub's lists.
