Carmelo Anthony Boosts New York Presence With Boost Mobile Marketing Deal

Carmelo Anthony gets face time at Boost Mobile's Web site.March 30, 2011: Carmelo Anthony has signed a multi-faceted alliance with Sprint's Boost Mobile, his first endorsement deal since being traded to the New York Knicks in February.

Boost Mobile is already aligned with the Knicks and MSG Network via a multi-platform marketing partnership for the 2010-2011 season.

Financial terms of the deal with Anthony were not disclosed.

The alliance with Anthony, whose marketing deals also include a line of signature shoes with Nike's Jordan Brand, will help Boost to unveil the ad campaign, "Be Heard" via New York City-based media and marketing activities. That includes a 128-foot tall billboard near Madison Square Garden on the corner of 33rd Street and 9th Avenue (pictured). The campaign with Anthony will also feature local radio, additional billboards, POP and Internet, including the Boost Mobile Web site, Anthony's Twitter page and other social media destinations.

“New York is a key market for Boost Mobile,” Bob Stohrer, vp-marketing for Boost Mobile. “We couldn’t be happier that Carmelo has decided to team up with Boost to help build on the momentum both Boost and the Knicks have in New York City.”

According to Anthony, “I am really excited to be joining Boost Mobile. Boost is a brand that has strong roots in New York City, and together we will definitely be heard in the coming weeks!”

Sprint is seeking to boost its visibility in the face of a proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile, which is awaiting government approval. T-Mobile is the official wireless services partner of the NBA and WNBA and currently has marketing that features Dwyane Wade and Charles Barkley.
