• NBA All-Star James Harden has joined the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo. According to the MLS club, the 2018 NBA MVP with the Houston Rockets becomes the fifth member of an ownership group led by Gabriel Brener, which also includes boxing icon Oscar De La Hoya, Ben Guill and Jake Silverstein.

In addition to the Dynamo, the group also owns the NWSL's Houston Dash and BBVA Stadium, the home venue for both clubs.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash and proud to be a part of a club with tremendous history and a great future,” Harden said via the team.

• Cavs Legion Gaming Club, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, has unveiled plans for an eSports center in Cleveland’s Battery Park neighborhood. The 2,700 square foot venue is scheduled to open this fall,

• The NFL Network is planning 129 hours of “Inside Training Camp Live” coverage July 22-Aug. 7 Additional coverage will appear across NFL media platforms including NFL.com, NFL Films, NFL app and NFL RedZone.

ESPN also said it would provide comprehensive coverage of the opening week of the 2019 NFL training camps beginning July 22 on daily editions of SportsCenter and NFL Live.

• NBC’s Golf Channel unveiled details for its next Golf Films project, “Tiger Woods: Chasing History,” to premiere July 22  The film will present viewers with a chronological look at the “sights and sounds from each of Woods’ 81 professional victories, from his first at the Las Vegas Invitational in 1996, through the most recent win at the Masters earlier this year.”

• Pete Frates and Pat Quinn, co-founders of ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, have launched with The ALS Assn. the 5th anniversary of “Challenge Me” with a “new call to action to reignite the passion and generosity of the millions of people who dumped ice water on their heads in the summer of 2014.”

Pizza Hut, Hyundai, Lowe’s Score Activation At NFL Draft In Music City Nashville

April 22, 2019: First-year partner Lowe’s, second-year partner Pizza Hut and such established partners as Pepsi, Visa, New Era, Oikos and Verizon are ready for three-day event of the NFL Draft this week in Nashville, April 25-27.

Even Hyundai is in on the action. The company, which in February ended its alliance as the official vehicle and SUV of the NFL, returns to the Draft  for a third season with Rolling with the Rookies presented by Hyundai, a five-episode content series that profiles college football athletes by bringing them back home to visit the people, places and moments that defined their journeys.

Hyundai has joined with five  players who are projected to be taken in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft and filmed the prospects in their hometowns and captured their unique stories of personal triumphs that helped make their dreams a reality.

The players include Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell, Iowa State running back David Montgomery, Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen and Washington free safety Taylor Rapp.

Hyundai will distribute the content on its own website and social media channels, and through a multi-platform distribution strategy driven in partnership with digital sports publisher and consultancy, ThePostGame,

As part of its NFL deal, Hyundai had also been an official sponsor for the NFL Draft and Kickoff Weekend.

Now in its second year as the official pizza sponsor for the NFL, Pizza Hut said it is “celebrating the fans who made year one a success by putting them on the clock to redeem an exclusive offer during the 2019 NFL Draft ceremony.”

During the first pick of the Draft, Pizza Hut and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff, who was the No. 1 overall pick in 2016, will unveil a code enabling people to redeem 50% off all menu-priced pizzas.

They also can enter for a chance to win a VIP trip to a 2019-2020 NFL regular season game of their choice. (Details here.)

In addition, Pizza Hut will recognize the 78th overall pick of the NFL Draft — the "Pi Pick," the 14th pick in the third round (3.14) — for the second consecutive year in a row, awarding him with free pizza for a year to get him through his rookie NFL season.

Lowe’s, which signed as the NFL’s official home improvement retail sponsor this past January just prior to the Super Bowl, enters its first NFL Draft with a multi-platform campaign, “Pro Ready.”

The effort includes TV, digital, social media. local community activation and OOH billboards in Nashville and New York’s Times Square.

In its first NFL-themed spot, “Lowe’s Pro Services,” Lowe’s highlights some of the efforts it’s taken to “step up its game so pros can get more done right, such as hiring new Pro managers, dedicated Pro parking and Pro loaders on hand at their stores around the country.”

Lowe’s said it supplies materials to the NFL for construction of the NFL Draft Stage as assisted with the construction with the build.

The Moorsville, NC-based retailer will use the NFL Draft to engage with and give back to the local community, using Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker and Titans LB Wesley Woodward.

Lowe’s becomes presenting sponsor for the Super Bowl Experience interactive and sponsor-laden fan destination, beginning with Super Bowl LIV in February 2020, to be played in Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, replacing  Hyundai.

The Marketing Arm, a division of Omnicom Group, said it would host its second Chosen event, which will include 25 “of the most marketable draft prospects to interact with 15 of the top consumer brands at an exclusive event in Nashville.”

The Marketing Arm said that throughout the event, players will have the chance to meet one-on-one with representatives from leading consumer brands to better understand what future endorsement partnerships might look like.

The entire 2019 NFL Draft will air on both ESPN and ABC, with seven rounds streamed live on the ESPN App and ABC App, broadcast on ESPN Radio and available in Spanish on both TV and radio on ESPN Deportes.

The NFL Network will air the entire 2019 NFL Draft presented by Verizon.

On stage, ten student athletes from local Nashville high schools will had official New Era caps to athletes after they are selected by their respective teams.

The NFL Draft Experience presented by Oikos Triple Zero, the free three-day football festival to be held outside of Nissan Stadium, was called “the largest NFL Draft festival footprint to date.

In recognition of Music City, it will be the first to integrate a free live music concert series featuring 20 Nashville-based artists of all genres.

Among the league partners scheduled to have a presence in the NFL Draft Experience are the Play60 Zone presented by  Dannon’s Danimals; Pepsi NFL Helmet photo opportunity: NFL Shop presented by Visa at Draft with exclusive NFL merchandise; Bridgestone, Bud Light, FedEx, Ford, Lowe's, Mars, Nationwide, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Sleep Number and Verizon.

"We're excited to show NFL fans from around the country why there's no better place for the Draft than Music City," Steve Underwood, president and CEO for the host Tennessee Titans, said via the team.

Among team activation, the Miami Dolphins, which will host Super Bowl LIV this February in Hard Rock Stadium, are staging the “Miami Dolphins On the Clock Draft Party powered by South Florida Ford.” in the stadium on April 25.

The event Includes Live coverage of the 2019 NFL Draft's first round; free autographs from cheerleaders, current and alumni players; garage Sale of Dolphins signature items such as jerseys, helmets, T-shirts and hats; interactive football drills for kids and adults; and official draft merchandise for sale.
