Kobe Bryant, Spike Lee Unite Again To Support 2KSports' 'NBA 2K10'

June 5, 2009: Score another victory for Kobe Bryant. The All-Star guard with the Los Angeles Lakers will be the cover athlete for 2K Sports' 10th anniversary edition of NBA 2K10, which will be available this fall. Parent company Take-Two Interactive Software, New York, is supporting with a national ad produced by and starring Spike Lee that will run during and after the NBA Finals between the Lakers and Orlando Magic. Lee, who directed the recently released documentary, Kobe Doin’ Work (ESPN Films), shows off his alliance with the New York Knicks in the spot by offering 2KSports other athletes as options, including Nate Robinson and Al Harrington, both with the Knicks, and himself. He then concedes, "2K, if you are going to use Kobe, at least put him in [a Knicks uniform]." Take-Two also is offering consumers the opportunity to vote on which one of several cover options featuring Bryant would actually appear on the product. The online event is being conducted now through June 15 at www.2ksports.com/vote, with the winning cover to be unveiled on June 16. “I’ve been playing sports videogames for as long as I can remember and honestly, I’ve never seen one come so close to replicating real basketball. What 2K Sports has done is truly incredible and I’m proud to be a partner with them and on the cover of NBA 2K10,” Bryant said in a statement. Added Lee, “It's quite obvious why 2K Sports put Kobe Bryant on the cover of NBA 2K10, which is the best NBA videogame. One day Kobe and I will go one-on-one playing NBA 2K10.”
