• Manchester United has signed a multi-year deal with Marriott International, with multi-platform marketing including access to on-field & player experiences for 120M members of the Marriott BonVoy travel program.

• PepsiCo is acquiring the CytoSport supplements brand from Hormel, which includes the Muscle Milk line.

• MLS Los Angeles Galaxy has signed a deal naming Mescal El Silencio, a specially crafted mezcal label based in Los Angeles, as an official partner for the team and its venue, Dignity Health Sports Park. The alliance, being called the first mescal deal for a pro sports team, includes a Mezcaleria El Silencio bar on the main concourse.

• MLS FC Dallas has signed a pact naming Heineken as the official import beer for the club and Toyota Stadium. The alliance also make Heineken USA a founding partner for the National Soccer Hall of Fame, which recently opened in Toyota Stadium.

• Lisa Borders, who in October resigned from her position as president for the WNBA to become president and CEO for Time’s Up, has now resigned from that position, citing family situations.

Rush Hour: Kia Motors Extends, Expands Official Automotive Alliance With NBA

October 17, 2017: The NBA has started the 2017-18 season with Kia NBA Tip-Off Week, so it is only fitting that Kia has signed a multi-year deal to remain the official automotive partner for the NBA, WNBA and NBA G-League, and also expand it alliance to other areas.

Kia has been a partner with the league since 2008.

Kia also has partnerships with 11 NBA teams as well as LeBron James, who appears in marketing for the Kia K900 luxury brand.

Financial team of the extended deal were not revealed.

“Kia has been deeply integrated into the year-round NBA experience since becoming a partner in 2008,” Kerry Tatlock, NBA svp-global partnership for the NBA, said in a statement. "We’re excited to continue to grow the partnership by building upon all of the engagement programs that connect Kia with the diverse fans across the league’s channels."

Under terms of the new alliance, Kia becomes an associate partner for the NBA Draft.

The automaker will remain title partner for such on-court platforms as Kia NBA Tip-Off, Kia NBA All-Star MVP and the Kia NBA Performance Awards: MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player and Sixth Man and Rookie of the Year.

In addition, Kia will remain title partner of the NBA’s monthly Performance Awards, recognizing the top player and rookie from each conference. The season-long #KiaWhoYaGot sweepstakes, which gives people an opportunity to predict the winner of key match-ups on NBA social channels, resumes during Kia NBA Tip-Off.

According to Saad Chehab, vp-marketing communications for Kia Motors America, "The partnership between the NBA and Kia has been pivotal in increasing brand and consumer awareness and an uptick in consideration of the Kia brand, and we are excited to extend our partnership and continue connecting with the league and its passionate fans.

"Both Kia and the NBA have a broad appeal across a large segment of the consumer public and through this partnership we hope to keep Kia top-of-mind among the confident, independent NBA fans and drive them, literally to Kia’s showrooms,” said Chehab.

Kia’s 11 NBA team partnerships include the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns.
