July 26, 2018: For the past three decades, Bridgestone Americas and its Bridgestone Tire division has been involved in a full roster of sports and entertainment, from league partnerships to a Super Bowl Half Time show sponsorships, an arena naming rights deal, a top-tier alliance with the International Olympic Committee, a major presence in golf and and endorsement roster that includes Tiger Woods.

Overseeing the sports platform has been Phil Pacsi, vp-sports/events marketing and training, will said he would retire after 36 years with the company, effective Sept. 30, 2018.

Pacsi began his career at The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company as a development engineer and worked across numerous areas and functions at Bridgestone before joining the marketing team in 1994.

The decision has set other wheels in motion for Bridgestone, which named a trio of marketing people to new positions within the company.

Amber Holm, current vp-consumer brand marketing, U.S. and Canada for Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, has been named vp-marketing, consumer and customer engagement, U.S. and Canada, BATO.

Jeffrey Lack, who joined Bridgestone in 2015 as vp-marketing and merchandising for Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO), will will become vp-marketing, consumer tire, U.S. and Canada, BATO.

Dave Nientimp who joined BSRO marketing in 2016, has been named vp-marketing and merchandising, BSRO, reporting to Lack.

Philip Dobbs is CMO for Nashville-based Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.

“Phil has been an invaluable member of the Bridgestone team, providing leadership that has helped elevate the presence of our brands among consumers and our important dealer customers,” Dobbs said in a statement.

“He also has played a significant role in establishing a strong team to ensure we continue to build our brands and carry on his legacy.”

Under Pacsi’s watch, Bridgestone has been involved in sponsoring Super Bowl Half Time Shows (Super Bowl XLII in 2008 through Super Bowl XLVI in 2012), league partnerships with the NFL and NHL, naming rights to the Bridgestone Arena (home to the NHL’s Nashville Predators), sole tire supplier for the Verizon IndyCar Series, title sponsor for the U.S. figure Skating’s Skate America, title sponsor for the PGA Tour’s Bridgestone Invitational and a top-tier parter with the IOC and the Olympic Channel.

Bridgestone Golf’s endorsement roster includes Woods, Lexi Thompson, Fred Couples, Matt Kuchar and Brandt Sneaker; and the company supported such Olympians and hopefuls during the 2018 Winter Games as Nathan Chen, Amy Purdy, Evan Strong, Elana Meyers Taylor and Ashley Wagner.

“These changes will better align our team with the needs of the business and enable us to accelerate our efforts to deliver on key priorities."

Bridgestone commercials have included Woods, Wagner, Larry Fitzgerald, Jon Gruden, Matthew Stafford, P.K. Subban, Michelle Beadle and Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.

In her redefined position, Holm will lead engagement activities for the company’s sports and entertainment partnership platforms, which include the NFL, NHL, Verizon IndyCar Series, PGA Tour, the company’s worldwide Olympic Partnership and country music.

In addition, she will oversee dealer training and education for the consumer tire business.

In this role, Lack will lead strategic marketing efforts for the company’s consumer tire business in North America, and implement brand-building and digital engagement programs that drive traffic to customers’ stores.

Nientimp will be responsible for overall marketing strategy at the company’s more than 2,200 retail locations. This will include brand-building programs, digital initiatives and tire and service merchandising.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the Bridgestone marketing organization,” said Dobbs. “These changes will better align our team with the needs of the business and enable us to accelerate our efforts to deliver on key priorities. I look forward to seeing the team develop under this dynamic group of leaders.”
