Ford Taurus Football House Party - Make That 1,000 House Parties - Good To Go

October 16, 2009: There will be a full slate of NFL games on Sunday, Oct. 18, a plethora of tailgate happenings and, in some 1,000 homes a party sponsored by Ford to promote its 2010 Taurus.

Ford partnered with Houseparty.com, a leading social media marketing company, to create Taurus Game Day House Party as part of the car company's multi-media football-related ad campaign to support the Taurus.

Ford said it selected about 1,000 people to host simultaneous game-day parties nationwide chosen from more than 6,000 online applicants. More than 18,000 guests are expected to attend events in 45 states. Houseparty.com said that since August, more than 230,000 people have visited the Taurus Game Day page.

Ford has featured the 2010 Taurus in such football-related marketing content as the Ford Drive One Fox NFL Sunday Pregame Show and TV and online ads.

At each location, party hosts will receive a Taurus-themed party pack with an informational DVD featuring Michael Strahan, former member of the New York Giants and now a co-host of the Fox NFL Sunday Pregame Show. Hosts and guests may also have the opportunity to test drive a Ford Taurus the day of the party, and one host will win a Taurus in a special sweepstake as part of the event.

This will be Ford's second national house party venture in as many years. In 2008, the automaker organized more than 1,100 viewing parties nationwide to coincide with "Oprah's Big Give," a special philanthropic-based show on ABC-TV organized by Oprah Winfrey.

"We are thrilled about the level of enthusiasm," Connie Fontaine, manager for Ford brand content and alliances, said in a statement. "Fans across 45 states will not only be crowded around the television watching football [on Oct. 18], but around the all-new Taurus, too."
