• NBC Sports Nascar analyst Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy, an interior designer, "will transform a dilapidated 150-year-old historic home in Key West, Fla., into a gorgeous coastal retreat" in DIY Network’s new series, Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy. The four-episode series premieres Saturday, June 2.

• The National September 11 Memorial & Museum and NHL Hall of Famer Mark Messier announced a new special exhibition, “Comeback Season: Sports After 9/11,” which explores how “sports and athletes helped to unite the country, console a grieving nation and give us a reason to cheer again following the 2001 attacks.” Opens June 27. • Athletes First, a sports agency that represents such athletes as Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthew, Nick Foles, Josh Norman, Jamaal Charles and Deshaun Watson; and coaches including Jason Garrett and Urban Meyer, is launching Athletes First Partners (A1P), an international sales and marketing services company.

A1P's said its first client is Think450, the for-profit subsidiary of the National Basketball Players Assn., for which it would “help monetize collective sponsorship, licensing and content opportunities” on behalf of the 450 professional NBA players the Union represents.

Football Hall Of Fame Dresses Up Class Of 2010 With Phillips-Van Heusen, JCPenney 

Sept. 21, 2009: Phillips-Van Heusen and J. C. Penney have signed a deal with Pro Football Hall of Fame Enterprises to solicit fan opinions on which of a dozen players should be included in the inductee Class of 2010. The alliance will be supported by marketing that includes  TV, radio, print, digital and outdoor. In addition, the Van Heusen Pro Football Hall of Fame Fan’s Choice tour will visit select NFL stadiums throughout the season, which will include appearances by Hall of Famers and memorabilia from the Hall of Fame’s permanent collection.

The 12 players eligiable for fan ceremonial fan voting.However, the fan voting (here) of the 12 pre-selected players will only be ceremonial and will have no affect on the official Class of 2010 Hall of Fame inductees, which are named by the Board of Selectors. “This is [an] historic moment for the Hall and for football fans, as it marks the first time we are endorsing this type of fan voting forum,” George Veras, president for Pro Football Hall Of Fame Enterprises, stressed in a statement. “Although the fan’s vote will not count towards the official selection process, one thing is certain, the Hall will hear the fans loud and clear.” Added Allen Sirkin, president and COO of Phillips-Van Heusen, “This is the only official opinion poll on this subject and we’re excited to see the debate and how, ultimately, the Fan’s Choice for the Class of 2010 stacks up against the choices of the Board of Selectors.”

Wide receiver Jerry Rice and all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith lead the official list of 131 players, coaches and contributors who make up the preliminary list of modern-era nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010. (Full list here.) Other notables include Herschel Walker, Phil Simms, Randall Cunningham, Richard Dent and Cris Carter. The Class of 2010 will be selected from a list of 17 finalists (15 modern-era and two senior nominees). The actual voting will be conducted at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee’s annual meeting, which will be held on Feb. 6, 2010 in South Florida the day before Super Bowl XLIV. The election results will be announced immediately afterward.

The fan's choice for the Hall of Fame Class of 2010 will be revealed live on the NFL Network in Miami, also on Feb. 6, 2010, during Super Bowl XLIV festivities and just prior to the official announcement from the Pro Football Hall of Fame Board of Selectors.

The PVH-JC Penney football Hall of Fame campaign includes paid placement during ESPN’s Monday Night Football and four one-hour “Road to Canton”  specials on NFL Network; print in Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine; and ads on ESPN.com, NFL.com, Yahoo.com and AskMen.com. Outdoor includes an 80' x 60' billboard in New York's Times Square. A dedicated Web site will keep tally and provide other information.

JCPenney stores will offer eligible consumers the opportunity to enter a text-and-win sweepstakes for exclusive experiences, which include playing golf with Hall of Famers at Pebble Beach, Spyglass and Spanish Bay Country Clubs; a VIP trip to Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida; and a VIP experience to the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement on Aug. 7 and tossing the coin at the 2010 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 8.
