Esurance Plans To Transform ASG Ballot Marketing With Actor Josh Duhamel

By Barry Janoff

May 31, 2017: Esurance already has an All-Star spokesperson in Buster Posey, catcher for the San Francisco Giants.

Now they are going with a Hollywood star, signing actor Josh Duhamel as the first Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot ambassador.

Duhamel, who has a lead role in the upcoming movie, Transformers: The Last Knight, will be featured in multi-level activation throughout the ballot voting period for the All-Star Game, being played in Marlins Stadium on July 11.

Among other efforts, Duhamel will share posts on social media, make appearances on MLB outlets and "help fans get an inside look at MLB All-Star Week while on the ground at MLB All-Star FanFest in Miami."

Duhamel is also scheduled to make an in-person appearance at MLB All-Star FanFest on July 9 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, where he will be "engaging with fans and giving away fun prizes."

The Esurance effort coincides with the release of Transformers: The Last Knight, which is due to hit theaters on June 21. Duhamel reprises his role as William Lennox, now promoted to Lt. Colonel.

Esurance’s All-Star campaign also includes a sweeps offering tickets and accommodations to the game. (Details here.)

"Josh is no stranger to the game — he's a passionate baseball fan who can relate with other fans throughout the country and rally them around the All-Star Game Ballot," Nancy Abraham, vp-integrated marketing communications for Esurance, said in a statement.

"We love to surprise fans with special access, engaging content, and unique experiences that celebrate their passion for baseball."

Duhamel concurred.

"I've made my ballot picks and am excited to be partnering with Esurance as the first ballot ambassador," said Duhamel. "I'm a huge sports fan and grew up playing baseball and collecting trading cards. I've always loved the game!"

Esurance is in its third season as the exclusive auto insurance provider for MLB and as title sponsor for the all-digital Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot and the Esurance MLB Awards.
