• The NFL has unveiled the Super Bowl Ticket Giveaway, an initiative this season to "surprise fans across the country with an invitation to attend Super Bowl LII in Minnesota on February 4, 2018. A total of 500 free tickets will be distributed under the program as a way to give back to dedicated NFL fans and provide them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

ESPN Bowls Perfect Gain, Signs 12-Year Exclusive Post-Season Football Deal

November 21, 2012: ESPN confirmed today that is has signed a deal with the group that will oversee college football's new post-season Bowl game format "to present the playoff games and selected other games for 12 years on an exclusive basis across ESPN’s platforms."

The agreement would begin after the 2014 regular season (including January 2015) and continue through after the 2025 regular season (through January 2026).

Financial terms were not disclosed. Details of the agreement began to appear online last week.

ESPN is in the midst of a four-year agreement for the Bowl Championship Series under which the network airs all five games in the current format, including the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta Bowls, as well as the BCS National Championship Game, which will next be played in Sun Life Stadium, Miami, on Jan. 7, 2013.

The new format, beginning with the 2015 college football season, would be a five-game post-season series managed by the 11 Bowl Subdivision conferences and independent institutions. The plan is to have the two top-ranked teams meet in a national championship game and create competitive match-ups in the four other BCS bowl games.

The deal was unveiled by ESPN president John Skipper and Bill Hancock, executive director of the BCS and the future college football playoff.

“Because of college football’s widespread popularity and the incredible passion of its fans, few events are more meaningful than these games,” Skipper said in a statement. “We are ecstatic at the opportunity to continue to crown a college football champion on ESPN’s outlets for years to come, the perfect finale to our year-round commitment to the sport.”

Under terms of the deal, ESPN would feature the games on ESPN, ESPN Radio, ESPN Mobile TV and via WatchESPN on computers, smartphones, tablets and Xbox LIVE. In addition, ESPN would have the rights to distribute the games on ESPN 3D, ESPN Deportes and worldwide via ESPN International.

ESPN also gets exclusive rights to branded content throughout each season, including the official team-selection announcement.

According to Hancock, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with ESPN for 12 more years. ESPN’s outlets provide numerous opportunities to bring this iconic event to the fans. Folks are going to love this playoff and the attention ESPN will give to it.”
